I am dl a file that is approx. 350MB, in the downloaded section it says I have dl'd over 1GB and it shows that I only have 6.9% of the file, what gives? I have downloaded many files and never had this problem before, can anybody shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

you can enable "block peers that consistantly send bad data" in "Tools>Options>IP Filters"

Thanks, but I already have that enabled.

maybe installing the safepeer plugin would help

Thanks for the tip - after downloading 12 GB. of trash, I'll try!
(Plugins -> Installation Wizard -> SafePeer)

Safepeer is useless.
You might try redownloading the torrent. Or getting it from a different tracker. In addition to banning peers who send bad data.

Thanks folks, I have installed Safepeer(just in case Crestfallen) and I will try redownloading. Not to sound too stupid, but how do I know which peers are sending bad data? Thanks again for the help.

I'm redownloading as we speak... using SafePeer this time. It is blocking a lot of sites. And the hash failure count is lower than before. But still, it's not near perfect.
I'll just have to see in 7 hours when it's done (hopefully)...

Safepeer is useless.useless for hiding your IP from "them", but not useless for blocking known "bad data spammers"

Thanks Sparky, now I see. I have redownloaded the file from another tracker with Safepeer running and although it is blocking alot of sources I am still having the same problem, I have over 800MB dl'd of that 350MB file.

well one thing you could try is:
we can assume the fakers are sending you lots of bad data, right?
so sort your sources by the amount downloaded, and ban everyone in the top 75%
just a thought
another thought is wait a month and download it then when the fakers move on to other torrents

thanks again Sparky, will give that a try, or like you said give up for a while
