Details are coming soon.
BTW, I found a more detailed article here:

Movies to games. Games to movies. They really do have a relationship.

Meh.
I tried to watch Alone in the Dark. I fell asleep in the first 20 minutes.
I'll just wait for the next crappy Marvel movie, they at least keep me awake while wasting my time.

I'll be awake, with a sore wrist. If only her powers were to make only her clothes invisible.

So everyone thinks the movie sucks even though it's not released yet?
Tomb Raider, for example, wasn't bad at all.

Mario Brothers
Alone in the Dark
Mortal Kombat: Annhialation
House of the Dead
anyone else have more to add to the list of video game based movies that consumed massive amounts of fecal matter?

Double Dragon
TBD: Spy Hunter, Doom

Wipeout, the only reason tomb raider was good was angelina jolie. If they want to make a good movie based on a game it should be Grand Theft Auto. I pay to see that shit.

To make a long story short:
More success has come from building on comic franchises than from video game franchises. There have been a few good ones here and there.
Tomb Raider... so so
Resident Evil.. entertaining... but took it's own direction
The same often goes for video game adaptations of movies... often big name shit in a box.

But half life could be pretty good as a film.
I mean the story is just 1984 with zombies & aliens.
Sounds like a great idea for a film.
I mean its pretty set in stone as far as plot goes.
Cant see them screwing it up really.
Unless you get someone like Ben Aflec as Gorden.
That would suck.
For a Computer game, that isnt and RPG, the story is pretty deep.
Mario Brothers <-- Kids game, Kids film, let it go. (Mind you I liked both :-\ )
Mortal Kombat: Annhialation <-- The plot to this game is sketchy at best. Could have well been from the makers of Xean & Hercules.
Street Fighter <-- Should have been better, but the plot in the game is too sketchy. Animated films were pretty good...
Resident Evil <-- The Game is based on zombie films. Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc.... What do you get? A ZOMBIE FILM.

I think this movie is less action but more stealth. Mr. 47 only kills a handful of people per mission.
Also, this movie have some pretty good actors/actress:

Hmmm....
Hitman....
Vin Diesel....
If I were fifteen I would shit my pants with excitement while driving around my souped up import car watching the fast and the furious and looking lovingly at the Vin Diesel mural on the trunk.
I'm not fifteen, I'm not excited. I'll wait for the DVD.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

Same score as Battlefield 2. Basically means the game is better than the original movie.

Correct me if i am wrong but..... there is no film that goes by the name of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay.
The game is suppose to be a prequel to the films and is not based on any film.
Excrement_Cranium's statement is still right.

It is cheaper from a production standpoint to produce a movie based on a successful game or comic franchise than it is to produce a screenplay from scratch.
Most adapations are lame, like the final fantasy movie. You can not condense 20 to 40 hours of game story plotline into a 2 hour movie and make it work. At best no one has done it yet.
Mario Brothers movie was entertaining, I also liked the D&D movie that came out in 2000. Not high entertainment, but entertaining. Both movies had high expectations for gamers, and any movie adaptation is going to be basic because of time, cost and general audiences.
The Harry potter game by EA was an exceptionally good game.
A movie based on return to castle wolfenstein would be a great idea.

I'm not saying that it can't be done well. It just isn't done well very often. Marvel's current run has been pretty good, and even the box office bombs are at least watchable on DVD. The Resident Evil movies were pretty decent as well, I own them both.
The problem begins when game developers, or movie makers rely on the weight of the franchise itself to sell the product. Like I said, big name shit in a box. Put some effort in, and make it an addition to the franchise, not a shame to it.
Final Fantasy... hmmmmmm. Playing FFX right now.
The movie was great visually, and the story COULD have been interesting. It somehow pulled off being incredibly slow while altogether rushed at the same time.

I'm looking forward to advent children so I can play Dirge of Cerberus.
Edit: But I won't buy Dirge of Cerberus at launch because I'm saving my money for Final Fantasy 12. Something tells me FF12 will be rpg game of the year 2006 because it's delayed. Most games that are delayed are high quality.
http://gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/finalfantasy12/news_6118661.html
" However, Wada said that starting April 1, Square Enix will release a new game every month. "
Nothing will stop me from waking up early in the morning to buy FF12. Most of you already know that FF12 is always my most anticipated rpg. I'll remind you that I always buy games.

Hmmm. Interesting link. I notice that the reviewer doesn't say much about how great the STORY is. Which was always my gripe. The movie was too slow, the story was uninteresting. I watched Final Fantasy in the theatre and thought it sucked, but I don't regret it. The animation work on it was breathtaking. I have just not watched it since because everything else about it sucks.
