Hi all! I've been having a problem as of late with some of the torrents I have going in the latest version of the official BitTorrent. This is what happened. I started 3 different torrents going in bittorrent. By the time I checked them to see how they were doing one was almost half done, but the other two hadn't even started. Now that was somewhat perplexing given they are all newer, popular torrents with many seeds/leechers shown on the torrentspy download page. And the one that was downloading I am sure was not downloading so fast as to stifle the other two. It was going say 90 kb/sec, where even with one downloading at 200-300 kb/sec in the past would still allow for another file to download though it would be slowed down some. So I tried some other torrent files for those two files. None of them will start downloading either, and with no other torrent files downloading at the same time even! I don't get it. I don't get any error messages. They just never start downloading. Wasn't having problems downloading previous to this, unless an error message was involved. And even then, not many. So if there are sources for the files, and I've got a working system, why do they not download? Anybody experienced this, or know what is happening here? Thanks!

Just guessing but maybe the settings are set to limit the number of torrent downloads? Maybe you changed them accidentally? Because it sounds like they're qued to me, considering that they are in fact healthy torrents!

The way I have it set now is to always start torrents in parrallel. I believe that BitTorrent should be able to download up to three files at the same time. The downloads are not paused they are in downloading/tranfering mode. They just never start transfering any data. As far as I know there is no way to limit the fact that you can get up to three files to download simultaneously with BitTorrent by manually starting them like I did. But after you get three going manually BitTorrent will only download additional torrents one at a time. So you get three files tranfering, two of three finish, nothing happens. But then when the third finishes BitTorrent starts downloading another one that is queued, but wasn't downloading before. This repeats again and again until all queued files are downloaded, or a torrent you're trying to download hits a snag and the whole process grinds to a halt.

May because some trackers limit how many open torrents you have, some dont.. are you behind firewall?? Sometimes the seeder or some peers are unconnectable.

I have about five popular files with +50 seeders in good health and all of my torrents stay queued. I haven't changed any settings, haven't messed around with my firewall, just sat down this morning and it was like this, even though it was fine when I left last night.
I'm uploading and seeding to others fine (yay, I care), but not downloading.
I have the latest Java and Azereus and I'm using XP SP2.
What I find weird is Sygate doesn't even list Azereus as being an active internet program. It lists the Java 2 Platform, but not Azereus. Maybe it's always been like this and I haven't noticed, I dunno.

What does it mean if a download initates but the status is something like 6 weeks?!? Besides insanity, that is. Also, with ABC, I get either the yellow or red text so 'a bad tracker' error message or it doesn't even start. This is what happens to me when I attempt to use ABC.
I mean, I went to a particular site suggested on here but every 'source' (tracker) didn't work so I'm confused where the problem lies.
What I've done so far:
1) read portforwarding website
2) accessed my particular router's settings and set the 6881 range etc.
3) I think I did everything right - read about setting up a static IP and utilized the ipconfig command to obtain the info I need and typed in the appropriate settings
4) tried a variety of torrent sites that people on here recommended
OS: Windows 2000, router: Linksys WRT54G, Anti-virus program: AVG Browser: Mozilla/Firefox
No firewall software.
I'm lost!!! :-/

Shawners---Yes I am behind a firewall. I do port forwarding through my router. Never heard anyone suggest that some trackers limit how many open torrents you have. You think this is why they did not start? That is an interesting point to ponder. =)

If you got a router, open the ports your BT program uses.
Check the number of seeds + DLers too. Make sure its a public tracker too.
