Get ready to toast your Flaming Moes to some excellent news.

The Simpsons movie is off the drawing board and in preproduction.

"You know what? We've just done the table read for The Simpsons movie, so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production," Nancy Cartwright, who gives voice to Bart Simpson, told BBC Radio 1 this week.

Cool, I hope they use normal animation though. I hate when cartoons turn into movies and they have different animation and you can't quite finger whats different about it but you can see something about it is different.

I'd be happier if they did this years ago during seasons 4 or 5. The Simspsons just aren't what they used to be...

In one of the link sparky9 gave us,Groening said that it will stay animated. Yeah but sometimes when they turn cartoons into movies, the animation is slightly different, like its more detailed or the lines are thinner, or something I cant put my finger on. But you can tell its a movie rather than a normal episode. If I sound dumb, don't listen to me lol, but I know what I mean :D

I think they add more frames to make it smoother. If im not mistaken.

24fps is the standard for film, and seems to have worked fine for just about EVERYTHING. 29.98fps apparently makes movies with lots of special effects look crisper, but im not sure if the fps has bein used outside of digital.

Rumor has it that when the movie comes out, it will harold the end of the series. Last I heard the series was good through the 19 season, which is for two more years.(24 months). And if your post is right that would be when the move is do out.

I imagine it will only come out after the end of the series. I love the Simpsons series and have watched it well before they got their own show but- - -

I don't think this is a good idea unless they do a rated R version. Its all been done and done well with in a 30 minute time frame. I can only imagine product placements and the latest "celeb of the moment" packed into a hour and half movie. I'll watch it, I'll buy the T shirt and I'll bitch about how many times Homer eats at Subway in the movie but I would rather keep my weekly dose of Simpsons slapstick.
