Is it me or is everyone having problems connecting to the Ares network? Ive DLed and installed the latest version, I have no firewall or router, and yet it seems to take forever to connect to their servers!
Anyone know whats up?

Ares will have to shut down and improves itself before it can reopen up again. Ares wasn't build for enormous amount of users.
Alternative to ares = limewire
Limewire has fast downloads like ares and has a gigantic database of music.

Ok I got it to connect. I uninstalled ares, and manually removed the Ares data folder. I rebooted, and installed the latest version again, and it connected after 5 min.

Wow..integrated Limewire ads...hmmmm
And isn't Limewire just a Gnutella client?
Anyways, Ares has been having those connection problems lately...has a new version come out yet?

Actually - my Ares is a bit dodgy (ive a Wireless Linksys Belkin connection, Wireless G) andso ive dumped it!
im not uninstallin yet cause ive still got a few John Cena Rap-Battles left to download, but after that - IM CRAPIN IT, if i where you - i would switch to BitTorrent clients - like BitBuddy - try that to begin - its easy to use simple and quite fast, infact trackers are faster than network P2P apps , cause network P2P's are back up but tracker will connects straight to the source, tracker speed would be saoring way up high BUT they aint cause of the MPAA, they pay people like Slyck (www.slyck.com) 1000 or even 10000 dollars a week
to set the speeds down - if they never - a 1mb line thats being routed to sya 6 computers and their all runnig - the speeds would be from 60kbps to 230kbps, imagine if you used a office computer (theyve a 10mb line !! no routers!)MEGA FAST!
But if you feel more comfortable with Ares - i suggest you dump it and go for FileCroc (not the newest version, its got spyware bundled in) FileCroc is baisically a clone of Ares but diff skin!
And its connecting is fine.
but if your looking for more speed - switch to BitTorrents Clients
cause network p2p apps have a bandwidth - so your speed cant go that high anyway, unless theres like 20 hosts, or if you dont use a wireless and you got something like atleast a 2.5mb line :)
i got limewire, ares and BitBuddy (bitbuddy speeds are very fast, trackers are way better than DHT (DHT=Networks P2P APPS in general.))
i neva use any of my gnutella networking p2p or ares - or anything else like that - torrents have a more complex profit! And take up less CPU DEFFINATLEY cause your connected through the tracker so altogether Trackers would be faster.
BUT its what your comfortable with ! :icon_shak

For some unexplained reason Ares didn't seem to connect for me a while ago, so I went to the evil WarezP2P with it's ad bar. Works perfectly and the ads can be neutered by AdMuncher or hosts file if they cause you consternation and bitterness. :icon_pira
