About 70 miles from the U.S. border that he will not cross, Niklas Zennstrom is pondering which gets him more excited: making life miserable for entrenched monopoly businesses or making money doing it. The answer is both, and two of the world's largest industries haven't been the same since he went to work. Neither has the Internet. In co-creating the file-sharing software Kazaa in 2000, Zennstrom helped fuel an online revolution that music labels and motion picture studios say threatens their existence. Sued by the entertainment industry even though he sold Kazaa in 2002, Zennstrom avoids the United States as his lawyers seek to remove him from the case.

There are tons of programs that can do pc to pc voice chat. Calling it internet telephony is bullshit, until I can fire up skype and call someone on a land line; NEVER happen.

You can do that now with Skype, you just have to pay a little extra for all the Telephony charges. It's not much and it a lot cheaper then traditional methods of placing long distance calls.

Damn, and I thought I was a cheap fucker. I pay a whopping $20 a month and get local, all of US, Canada, seventeen countries in Western Europe and I think Mexico is included also. It does not get much cheaper than that.

I don't see what's so revolutionary about Skype. There have been phone programs that give free PC2PC calls and charge small fees for PC2phone calls since the early days of the Internet.
