Recently, the MPAA began to target TV torrent trackers. MPAA President and CEO Dan Glickman’s assertion that file sharers who download TV shows cut into their profits is just as credible as Hollywood’s claim, back in the 1980’s, that the VHS would decimate them. This is the same Dan Glickman who argued that the broadcast flag was not only necessary, but would also be beneficial to the public even though it would trample on the public’s fair use rights. Those who aren’t familiar with how the MPAA operates might be lead to believe that Dan Glickman aspires to be a comedian and is practicing his routine, but unfortunately, Dan Glickman and the MPAA aren’t trying to make people laugh, they’re trying to pull the wool over our eyes. On May 12, the MPAA gleefully announced that they forced six TV torrent trackers offline and Glickman stated that file sharers would now have a hard time finding TV shows to download. A few days ago, Cory Higgins wrote an article which revealed that the MPAA’s recent triumph over the six TV torrent sites wasn’t as impressive as they lead us to believe. Cory also provided us with four good TV torrent sources. However, the casual file sharer may still find it difficult to find exactly what they're looking for, so it’s good to have as many options as possible.Read the rest at P2P Core:
