I use Azureus 2.3.0.2

I was wondering what the swarm tab is supposed to be for? I'm not sure if it provides useful information or not.

Also, how can I tweak downloads. There are times that I am connected to a swarm with a few peers and I download at 400-500kB/s.

However, I'm currently connected to a swarm that has 276 peers total and I'm only downloading at 47kB/s.

Shouldn't I be able to get a file faster with more peers? Shouldn't overall performance be better with more peers?

the swarm tab is just a graphic overview of all connected peers
the number of peers isn't as important as the seed/peer ratio when it comes to how fast transfers will go.
when the seed/peer ratio is under 1/1 don't expect to download faster then you upload

Thanks,

Here's what I currently have:
Seeds: 15(13)
Peers: 284(264)

How do I interpret this?

about 1/20 seed/peer ratio ie: 1 seed to 20 peers
a swarm with 20 seed to 1 peer would have faster dl speeds, as a general rule of thumb. but since BT has built in leech resistance you should be able to download about as fast as you upload, unless everyone is setting their upload speed too low

Thanks.

I imagine that the large circle in the center of the swarm tab represents me as well as my relationship to the rest of the swarm.

So is there anything I can do to make my downloads speed up. I always return at least a 1 to2 ratio to the swarm. Thoughts?

limit your upload speed to around 80% max so you don't saturate your upstream and cause your ACKs to become latent

"General Azureus Questions" ...Man he sucked in Episode 3. I thought he would be more of a match for the Jedi but i guess i was wrong.

I lowered my max upload to about 80% of my max and the 47kb/s now seems to hover under 100. That's a significant improvement.
