But Everytime she tries to run adaware, spybot or any other spy ware program it shuts the program off. and when she runs nortons antivirus she will get a list of adware or spy ware and it deletes all but the one that is infecting her computer. We cant even download any new adware/spyware programs because it will shut the down load down. Can someone help? :icon_scra

Had the same thing a few months ago. Every time I used ad-ware or spy bot it would stop half way through when it got to this one file. I found that the file was from a program that I downloaded called StopZilla. It had downloaded a file in my Windows system in the root32 file in the driver section that I could not remove. It had about 5 hijacker sites in the file and I could not delte the file. Since it was in the Windows operating system it could not be removed while windows was working. I could remove it in Windows safe mode, but when I would go back to the regular windows mode and it started the ad killer Stopzilla, it would download the hijacker file again. I had to completely remove the Stoptilla ad blocker and went to the Norton ad blocker. You have probably download a file with the same type of file that can not be delelted by spy bot or ad-aware because it is running in the windows operating system. Try and find the program (it is possibly form some freeware or a file from a torrent you downloaded like and apps file) and remove it. I could not modify the stopzilla to run without the hijacker so I had to remove the whole thing.

What is the name of the file? I get a pop up through Mozilla of all places for a gambling casino, and work at home crap, doesn't matter where I am on the web. Firefox is set to block all pop ups and I don't have flash or shockwave installed so I assumed it was from spyware. Running Ad-aware and spybot only produce third party cookies. Webroots Spysweeper, Spydoctor, and Microsoft’s anti-spyware never find anything even cookies. I also use McAfee which supposedly scans for spyware along with viruses. Again nothing. I even downloaded a 30 day trial of F-prot but I don't think I need to mention that It didn't find anything either.

I get two or three of these pop-ups a day. I realize that's not that bad but I just don't like the feeling that there may be spyware on my system. Any info would be helpful.

i would run msconfig, and check the processes. Then shut down anything that looks the least bit odd, one thing at a time. Each time you shut down a process, reboot, and see what happens. If you take out too much at once and you get an error, you wont know what caused it. slow, and sure one piece of crap at a time.

He already has Spybot, and can use it to examine his system and remove unwanted start up items

He just needs to learn to use what he already has

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > System StartUp

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > BHO

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Activex

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Browser Pages

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > IE Tweaks

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Process List

Delete ALL temp folders and temp files

stopzilla i had that once my kid installed some crap and that came with it
i had to go through every file and folder to delete every instance of it i could find
took days finally spybot would work and even then i had to use xps recovery to fix the boot up
good luck

Btw . . .when you are here

Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Browser Pages

Left click and hold down, then drag the cursor to SELECT ALL

Once all are blue, then click CHANGE at the top of page . .

then paste in this > http://www.google.com

It changes all pages, and search pages to google for you, eliminating what spyware may have done to you.
