Gizmondo sets the standard for mobile gaming. With 400Mhz of processor power, a state of the art graphics chip from Nvidia and a huge, high resolution TFT screen, Gizmondo totally outclasses all other mobile gaming devices.

Built-in GPS technology allows players to discover the true meaning of mobile gaming. Some of the most exciting, innovative and interactive experiences the gaming industry has ever seen are currently in development.

High quality multi-level games can be installed through an SD card or downloaded remotely via the mobile phone network.

Unlike other mobile gaming devices, Gizmondo puts you in total control with an eight-way D-Pad, left and right triggers and four face buttons.

Ehhhh.... I tried it out at the CES and I was unimpressed. It looks like a Tapwave Zodiac with shoulder buttons, but the shoulder buttons are like quarter-sized metal buttons... It isn't bad, but no one will buy one in the face of the PSP, DS (and the Zodiac for that matter)... This bad boy is going the way of the NeoGeo Pocket and wonderSwan.

but....it has a game called sticky balls...which child doesnt want sticky balls??!!

my fave quotes about sticky balls

"grab you instantly"
"will keep you coming back for more."
"Sticky Balls has a simple set of rules. The game is played on a table with a number of different colored balls. You can shoot any of the balls on the table"
"If the ball you shoot touches another of the same color, they will be permanently stuck together as a cluster. "
"A special cluster called a snake (balls connected in a line) earns extra rewards. "
"Sticky Balls has been described as "an exercise in pure game play."

OMG...That is one of the biggest piles of corporate crap I've seen...larger than PSP's pile...surprisingly

It's not the part of it being some super multi-task gaming system...it's when you see what this "Tiger" company is really going after...$$$

Just look at http://www.tigertelematics.com/ and watch their flash video on the right.
They start by listing the feature...it being a digital camera first THEN it being able to play games and the rest of the junk it can do follows. It's when the vid starts talking about the Gizmondo "fueling Tiger's cash flow" the corp crap emerges...

It goes on talking about the Gizmondo's revenue streams...those being certain pay services for movies, songs, games etc..I can understand that, but there's more!
Smart Ads, a corporate way to basically get ads right to you whenever you don't want to be bothered..it's like ad-ware for your body!
After you spend a big wad of cash for this, you'll be bombarded by smart-ads; they're smart because they can pinpoint your location thanks to the Gizmondo's built in GPS system! YaY! They customize the ads according to your position and your surroundings. So your walking with your Giz, then it alerts you with an ad when you pass a store or attraction, then it will show an ad of that store/attraction, GREAT! Like if I didn't notice my surroundings and needed an advertisment to tell me and direct me where to spend more $$

Another example: "Gizmondo has noticed you are about to engage in an sexual activity. Gizmondo recommends you wear a 'Trojan' brand condom before engaging in this activity. The nearest sellers are located on the map with blue dots." Promotes safe sex too!!

What makes this even worse is that they mention that these ads will be customized towards "kids", yes children to spend more $$$, from ages "4 to 104!" Ya give it to a 4 year old kid and watch him bash the thing to bits because it kept telling him where he could purchase Teletubby dolls...

But they say that these ads will "subsidize the price of the Gizmondo"..how much you ask? I doubt it will be enough to even dare me to touch this P.O.S.
This better not fly....it better die!

DALLAS - There's one surefire way for a video game system to fail with consumers: a lack of decent games. It seems so obvious, right? Yet somehow, along comes Gizmondo.

This latest entrant in the already crowded handheld game market, available Saturday in the United States, will initially have 14 games to choose from — most all of them uniformly terrible.

The $229 device, which looks like a black and silver taco and is attractive and truly unique in its feature set, has been available for months already in Britain.

The only way I can see smart adds being a good idea is to integrate them into the games. Instead of making them stand out and annoy the hell out of you. You could have a billboard with a add on it in the game or a can of soda with cocacola or pepsi on it. But to make it deliverately piss you off is going to make alot of people look the other way.

I got sticky balls last night. Shower cleared it up this morning, but she made me sleep in the wet spot.
