Hi. We are about 100 people on a LAN. Each one has a separate PPPoE internet connection. Also, all internet connections are to the tune of 40-64 kbps (5-8KBps).
I was wondering if there was any way we could logically combine our bandwidths to get a fast virtual connection. Like everyone using BitTorrent to download the same 2 GB file, but somehow configuring such that no two people download the same piece from the internet. Rather, each gets the others' pieces over the high-speed LAN.
I dont know whether I'm making sense, but I hope u understand the general idea. Please let me know if there exists such a thing.
Thanks in advance.

I believe limewire allows you to do this.

Easy to do with bit torrent.. See how many files are in the torrent, and each person chooses which set to download and will download it from multiple people.. Some files have 140 pieces at 256bytes each.. So if its an movie or some sort, or discography.. Each person tells their client to download so and so piece and ignore the rest. But you would have to give or send the files to everyone on the network to have the full file. Movies are in rar format, so thats easy to do.. If its an image file.. It may be taunting.

Thank you all for your time.

The above idea will work just as we want for movie files distributed as RAR-parts, where we can only download the files we want. But, is it possible to do so at the piece level? If there is only one file to be downloaded, the download cannot be distributed. So can anything be done to enable/disable specific pieces?
Thanks in advance.

in theory it could be done, but if you have to ask no you won't be able to do it.

Seems rather tedious to me.
Also seems like this connection probably doesn't belong to you, in which case you shouldn't be using P2P applications on it.
