I started using p2p programs in, maybe 1999? I started out with Morpheus, shortly after the age of Napster. Then moved to Kazaa before it went to shit. For a while, I didn't pay much attention to the developments in p2p programs b/c Kazaa worked fine for my occasional/casual use. But now, with all the new programs and such, I'm totally lost (and feeling my age!).
I know that one can no longer narrow it all down to one good program. So, what would be some good suggestions for someone like me who:
Wants only music files...no movies, software, etc.
Wants to avoid fake files
Wants quick, efficient DL's
Looking for large volume of music files/hard-to-find music
Thanks,
Michelle

Soulseek - it meets all of your criteria except being fast. Even so, It can be pretty quick depending on the user you get files from.

I would have suggested Ares but wonderboy's suggestion might be better for the hard to find titles.

I user Bearshare all the time for music, works great for me.
For some of the really rare stuff you might want to check out eMule, might take longer but at least its there.

For singles I would use shareaza, bearshare, limewire, good speeds,
For avoiding fake files... just simply stay off kazaa... please,
For quick and efficient... any bittorrent compatible application,
For hard to find music... shareaza because of the multiple networks!
