Damn... I am rather jealous. I have movie tickets from my company I am going to use to see it, but I am not getting paid time off to view the film.

I have not yet bought my tickets... I could go on midnight... Or I could just go on Saturday... or I could go to the Cinerama and watch it on the digital projector... but the Cinerama is far too busy when movies (such as this) open.

I will probably go and see it on sat and then go and see it at the Cinerama later... giving George Lucas another 40 dollars of mine... along with the eventual purchase of the DVD and replacement of last year's dvds with HD-DVD/Blu Ray in 4 years. Damned Lucas.

Agreed, Krell does suck. I work overnights, so I don't think I'll see it till this Sunday (next day off).

Tonight I've watched Episode I and II to get my thinking back in order for the third one.

I'll see it Saturday. Not a chance the theater will be full. I kind of want to see the first 5 now, but I haven't got the time >.<

I bought my tickets last month.....Going to see it opening night at 10:30 PM. It is going to be an absolute mad house....

In any case, the high critical praise is only getting me more psyched to see it. Should be a winner...

Anyone know if there are going to be any "new" risks for downloading SW Ep: III? Do you think the MPAA will be watching this one closely? Any highly recommended safeguards?

I know it's already out there. I've seen a lot of people saying that they think it'll be watched like a hawk...

The authorities would be stupid not to watch.

That's not saying much though.

If you're going to download it either find an open wifi connection and get it quick once the d/ls get a lot of speed (I've seen one DVD workprint with 6 seeds right now, sure to be hundreds by this afternoon).. alternatively you could get it off IRC or newsgroups.

Absolutly, saw it twice yesturday. First at home, then in the theater at midnight with all the other geeks. Extremly depressing movie but by far the best of the three.

I have just finished watching Revenge of the Sith.

Of the prequels i have only seen the Phantom Menace and Sith is a far better film than that.

How does Sith compare to the original trilogy? It doesn’t. Even Return of the Jedi is a superior film to Sith.

That is not to say that Sith is a bad film. I think it is quite good film with many good points:

The special effects are amazing.

The sound is amazing.

Most of the fight scenes are impressive – especially yoda's.

I liked the darker feel to the film.

Jar Jar appears for about 3 seconds and doesn’t speak!

The last half hour of the film is handled better than the rest of the film.

Now the negative points:

The acting - this is the films biggest setback. None of the actors elevate above the Keanu school of wooden acting. Some moments really do feel like a high school play.

Ewan McGregor was disappointing, especially since he is capable of so much more.

Natalie Portman gives a lazy performance.

Hayden Christensen is the weak link. His turn to the dark side is unconvincing and the hammy Planet of the Apes style "NOOOooooooo!" towards the end of the film made me laugh out loud.

Ian McDiarmid as palpatine wins the 'Richard Burton in the Exorcist 2 award' of hammy acting and over emphasis of lines. “DAAaaaaaaark Siiiiiiiiiide” is the new “eeeeviiil”

Yoda was the best actor in this film.

Robert Rodriguez proved that actors can give good performances while using green screens in Sin City. It’s a shame Lucas couldn’t.

If I could change anything about this would be the director. Lucas does not seem to be interested in anything other than the action parts of the film. The characters suffer because of this.

I am a big fan of the original trilogy and I would say I was pleasantly surprised with Sith. Mainly because I didn’t go in thinking that it would be a return to form for the series.

I thought the movie did what it needed to do. There was nothin great about the movie. The light Saber battles where ok till the end when Darth and Obi went all out. The retarted lines and the repeating of "Master" but Anakin was the most anoying this in Ep2 and 3. Also you already knew what was going to happen, there was no huge plot twist and i dident even play the games yet because i wanted some form of surprise. But i guess thats how things go.\

*Oh ya and when i saw that the wookie's were all CGI i was pissed. Just thought i would share that with everyone.

OK FIRST OFF ALL DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE

Right were to start.

I did go into the cinema expecting something better than E1 and E2. And came out disappointed thinking were did the movie go wrong.
What is evident from revenge of the sith and ep1 and 2 is Lucas is obsessed with CGI and he does his dammed hardest to ruin the movie with overusing it. Some people will agree with me some wont but CGI even at the best of times is never believable you just get the feeling you are watching a clip for the next star wars game in this example. I just never felt like the movie took me anywhere other than a blue screen studio.

Then there is the acting Hayden Christensen in my opinion should be shot dead. I can just see Lucas saying oh never mind Hayden that was crap but if I put enough space ships in the background of every scene no one will notice. This guy just can’t act and as a result the transformation into Vader is lost.

The moment when the emperor is born I thought had cut to a sore throat ad with his dodgy voice. And im sure he is sporting a scream mask.

The best bit in the film is when Vader is born when obi cuts of Haydens legs and arm then leaves him to catch fire. I thought this section was outstanding. But then sadly when you do get to see Vader in all his glory he is about a foot smaller than in 4, 5, 6, also he appears to weigh about 6 stone and his voice lacks the power needed to be convincing.

Taking in mind the money, time, unlimited resources that Lucas had at his disposal when making this film it is shocking the final outcome. There were too many moments in the film where I just thought what the hell were you thinking executing the scene in that fashion.

I often found myself laughing at the really bad acting. It was either cgi animations fighting it out or bad actors stud in front of a massive window with billions of hovering cars going past.

The sad thing is that’s it now finished no more. I think I would have rather he hadn’t made these 3 films to be honest cos they have been that bad.

How can you screw up that bad when you made 3 fantastic films on a fraction of the time and money.

Well, I just got finished watching it. So here's some comments on what's been said so far.
What is evident from revenge of the sith and ep1 and 2 is Lucas is obsessed with CGI.
Definitely agree with that but I thought they looked very good and don't hurt the film.

Then there is the acting Hayden Christensen. This guy just can’t act and as a result the transformation into Vader is lost.
Hayden Christensen is the weak link. His turn to the dark side is unconvincing and the hammy Planet of the Apes style "NOOOooooooo!" towards the end of the film made me laugh out loud.
Definitely agree with both these statements. Why he was choosen to lead these 2 movies I'll never get. The tranformation was no where near as good as I saw in my head because he simply wasn't good enough for this role.

The best bit in the film is when Vader is born when obi cuts of Haydens legs and arm then leaves him to catch fire. I thought this section was outstanding.
I also agree with this totally.

But then sadly when you do get to see Vader in all his glory he is about a foot smaller than in 4, 5, 6, also he appears to weigh about 6 stone and his voice lacks the power needed to be convincing.
HAHA. Ya the size difference between him and David Prowse is very noticeable and as far as the voice goes, matching the powerful voice of James Earl Jones is nearly impossible, so I think a little leeway should be given but it definitely hurt the performance.

Overall, I'd say it was ok but the acting hurts it alot. The potential I saw in my head for this film was never reached and it wasn't just Hayden but he definitely was the majority of the problem.

Wow. You're right. I just checked the cast on imdb. I feel stupid now. That did not sound like JEJ to me. That totally sounded like Hayden to me. It didn't sound deep enough. Now I've got to go back and watch the end. I coulda swore that was Hayden's voice.

I saw it thursday and it was everthing I hoped for. It tied everthing together nicely exept for 1 part. In return of the jedi luke asked leia what she remembered about her mother. She said all he remembered Was she was sad. But in the new movie she died after giving birth. So maybe someone could explain this to me.

She didn't know she was adopted... she thought her parents were Jimmy Smits and that chick you saw for 5 seconds at the end of the film... Princess Leia Organa was her name and her pa was the senator Bail Organa... was that the Tantive IV that was seen in the start of Ep IV...? Starting to make more sense?

Yah I have to agree that the acting in Ep III was kinda weak. But the final product turned out ok. Not great but not the total bastardizations that Eps I and II were IMO. The whole trilogy of prequels just seem to be an attempt by Lucas to capture the magic that the original trilogy had and, again IMO, he failed miserably leaving us with a mess of covuluted storytelling and wooden acting. It's kinda sad when the friggin puppets have more personality than the human actors.

Sigh, I guess I'll stick with the 1st trilogy.

Yes because we all know that George Lucas had all the details handed down to him by the force back in 1974 when the story was first put to paper. Their can be no discrepancy as the story was complete in its self from the beginning and speaking as if it was not is heresy in its darkest form.

These films define retroactive continuity... I enjoyed the drawing together of the lines between the two trilogies...

BTW... Greivous rules... there should have been like 30 times more of him in the trilogies.

I dont understand this.. The movie is great on big screen, yet the acting is just horrible through out.. Rushed emotion, no depth on why they feel the way they felt.. I WISH george lucas would cast a director, and reshoot it.. He has enough money. .. No one would miss these three episodes entirely. Even though its good to watch on the movie screen and finish the saga.. It still incomplete.

For my money it was the best SW episode of all of them (and I have seen them all, I'm that old). The only thing none of them has beat since the first was Princess Laya (sp?), Carrie Fischer was SO HOT, now she is a burned out shell coming off drugs and booze, but she was really hot and I wished back then I could bang her silly.
