For those of you who hate Shareaza so Vehemently, what p2p apps do you use?
Bittorrent, ED2K?
I agree Bittorrent and ED2K have there places but for downloading files that are not available on bitorrent, Shareaza has proven to be the fastest and most reliable app I have seen. If you disagree then please enlighten me as to what app is faster and has a larger selection of files.

I use seperate apps for Guntella, eMule, and Bittorrent, because when you put all your effort into 1 network you get a better product, as opposed to spreading effort around 4 networks. Sure Raza makes this easier, but not necessarily better all the time...
Just my opinion...

I have had little luck with ares myself. It seems to have a very small selection of files, but it is fast for thee ones it does have. I still prefer KLR/Shareaza/bitcomet all of which you can tweak the heck out of to get super performance downloads, and little or no uploads...

Thats why I love Azureus, tons of tweaks and plugins you can use to make things better.

given that the library is the BIGGEST pirate around, do you think that the MP/RIAA will ever go after them? i dont see how they could win, but it *IS* the free legal way to get stuff. if everyone started using the libraries, no one could get sued.

Anyone tried Bear Share? I'm proably going back to Shareaza as soon as I finish downloading what I'm downloading. The free version is bundled with adware-Saviour 12

Dogster. Unlike Shareaza, it's very light on CPU usage. You don't even notice it's running!

azureus
the newsgroup client du jour (currently pan and xnews)
limewire for the occasional download a la carte
filezilla ftp and the good old "ftp" command
the linux command-line bittorrent client
emule/amule
mirc
xchat/bitchx both on linux
of them IRC is still my favorite. bittorrent is creeping up there, i dont like the moral implications of the share ratio though :\
on irc you know I still have an fserve running so people can @find on me...
