Dark Messenger

hi all..not long ago an aggregious (wrong, terrible) error was made by yours truly the Dark Messenger concerning Chip and his associations with a few questionable parties.
I may have "shot my mouth off too soon before checking to see if my brain was in gear" and I would now like to take this opportunity to apologise publicly to Chip Warner for my terrible mistake in misrepresenting him and dietK.
To furthur my disclaimer or this disclaimer i would like to say that i did not at the time "have ALL the facts" I still do not have ALL the answers that i would like to have...this is necessary and FOR A REASON that "I" do not have all the answers...mainly being the competitive nature of the p2p industry and the strong stance Sharman Networks is taking regarding anything which might threaten their making a profit from "our" shared resources, e.g., "files and bandwidth"...so without much more adue
I would like to repost a partial piece to the puzzle I call now DietK...this excerpt was taken from the Unite The Cows forum before their server crashed and Slyck.com took over helping to sustain the current site.
Here is Chips own words regarding DietK (please note this is in regards to the older no 2p0beta version or rather the 1.02 and 1.03 versions respectively)

I know many people are very suspicious when it comes to new “privacy” programs, etc, but I would like to at least alleviate any of your concerns regarding Diet Kaza. Most of the information I will share here, is available on my website: http://www.dietk.com./ Now, I understand most people do not like to go read, and that is why maybe some of you were unaware of the functions of Diet Kaza.
Diet Kaza uses the same dummy “DLL trick” that Kazaa Lite uses in their hacked version. However, Diet Kaza also uses 3 separate ways of blocking ads. One of which is the old fashioned Windows HOST file trick. After seeing many people using “127.0.0.1” as an efficient way to block access to the ad networks of KaZaA, the idea of using a personal port sniffer came into mind. Diet Kaza, by default, opens TCP port 80 on your computer. Ignoring every connection except for those originating from “127.0.0.1”, DK is able to provide a secure way of controlling what, and where, KaZaA itself can access. KaZaA will think it is connecting to his home ad servers, but in reality, it is connecting to the mini-server built into Diet Kaza. Also, this is the fastest and easiest way to change the homepage in KaZaA. Now, for those of you who simply do not trust that I have designed a safe and non-threatening port sniffer, you can easily turn this feature off. Simply open the DK settings.ini file, and change PORT80=0 to PORT80=1. Many of you had no idea why your firewall, or ZoneAlarms was giving you alerts, and assumed Diet Kaza was up to some dirty trick. No, it is not a Trojan backdoor or spyware component. Feel free to disable it if you think I am trying to trick you, or if you think I’m lying.
Another person was wondering, how was I able to modify the GUI without having the KaZaA source code? Win32 API, and changes are not permanent.
Also, how come we have not been shut down by Sharman yet? That seems a silly question when you compare DK and the people distributing KaZaA Lite. Diet Kaza is technically not illegal. It does not change the KaZaA programs code, etc. We are not bundling a modified version of a copyrighted product, and distributing it as our own. However, I can tell you that Grokster.com has already tried to shut our website down. They failed however, as they failed to provide us and our ISP with any credible evidence to back up their claims that Diet Kaza is an “obvious hacking program of our Grokster client” [quote taken directly from our email correspondence with the Grokster Abuse department]. We will be releasing all of our emails for public display within this month.
I should also include in this address the reason why KaZaA Tap was renamed to Diet Kaza. KTAP was originally created in about one day, and was a tool that I made for my friend Chris. A day later, I decided to release it publicly. The following email will help you understand why we changed names:

Hi
I would be the Kazaalite.com admin and owner. I think your program has potential and was wondering if you wanted a partnership between the two?
Kazaalite.com has problems with the legal issues but you get past that.
If you are intrested let me know.
For your information I own kazaatap.com for easy integration of sites.
Thanks for your time
Shaun Garriock
After talking with Shaun about partnering, his terms were that I release to him, the source code for my project. Since this was not possible at the time, Shaun and I were unable to come up with a solution to partnering. I did not want to be associated with KaZaA Lite, since truthfully, that is an illegal package. However, he purchased kazaatap.com without notifying our team, and at that time, he did not offer to let us use the domain. The next step logical was to rename the project, create an all new website, and release it publicly again. Why did no one hear about this? Because from the start, I had no intentions of slandering KaZaA Lite, and I wanted people to know that Diet Kaza fully supports the KaZaA Lite release. To me, the point is not about which is “better”. Diet KaZa ads some very cool extra features to KaZaA that KaZaA Lite can not. And that is the entire purpose of DK: simply to pick up where KL left off, and hopefully have a few people enjoy the new features. Again, I am only explaining this as to give a clear explanation why we changed the name, not to slander KaZaA Lite, or Shaun himself.
I hope this post helps to clear up some questions, and I welcome everyone to provide me feedback. You must realize DK is not ment to replace KaZaA Lite, so for those of you who like the interface with the modified resources, I encourage you to try DK with KL.
And finally, I will offer the deluxe edition Diet Kaza “With Lemon” free to anyone who emails me, and says they have read this post.
Thank you.
