Azureus is a powerful, full-featured, cross-platform BitTorrent client based on java.
It is maybe the most popular BT client.
Azureus offers multiple torrent downloads, queuing/priority systems (on torrents and files), start/stop seeding options and instant access to numerous pieces of information about your torrents.
Azureus now features an embedded tracker easily set up and ready to use.
You can download it here:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php
And here is the changelog for this release:

Havent really seen the effects of DHT yet cause I'm firewalled on my college network. I'll be home this weekend, and I can't wait to give it a try.

After updating azureus does not work at all for me. Will connect to a tracker but never gets any peers or seeds. These are on torrents I know have lots. Uninstalled and reinstalled fresh still does not work. I have my ports forwarded and everything. Bitlord seems to work though.

Private trackers might be forced to ban Azureus if that happened.

when making torrents you can select "connections from the tracker only" for private trackers, so people can't hitchhike on to private trackers.
or allow DHT for "not so private" trackers

This is one of my gripes with the news system right now. This thread is the comments for the story on the homepage http://www.zeropaid.com/news/5338/Azureus+2.3.0.0+released/ . You'd have to look at where this story is posted to figure that out, because there is no mention of the news story in this thread.

For those having connectivity trouble, do this: (I did it, it works). Uninstall Java, then go here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
And then click on "Download JDK 5.0 Update 3"

It would probably be better just to get the JRE Update 3. You don't need the JDK unless you're developing in Java :-)

maybe it was just me, but the new version of azureus or the newer java (or perhaps the combination of the two) did not work well on my system. It took up an enormous amount of memory at times and i had numerous connection issues. for example, it would start off okay and then not be able to connect to the tracker anymore. In time, the peers i was connected to would be dropped until my speeds dropped to 0-500 B/s (yes, that low; not a typo). This could be temporarily corrected my restarted azureus, connecting to the tracker fine, and connecting to many peers for 5 minutes before the process started over.
I have downgraded to the older version of azureus and java (2.2.0.2 and 1.4.2 respectively) and things work fine again. I am sharing beautifully again and no more huge memory usage.
This isn't meant as any type of flame/complaint/tech support thing. Just stating what happened for me and how it got "fixed" if anyone else has probs and wants to know if reverting back will work.
