What are they comparing to get 3 times faster, the fact that the cell has 9 compared to 3 processors? If so thats completely wrong, theres more to it than the number of processors.

Also did you even read my post before, if these systems are this powerful, they rank within the top 100 supercomputers in the world... Hence the reason why I am saying the specs make NO SENSE

I found that article funny as if you give it credence it states the following :"The consensus among these learned types is that the two systems have comparable GPUs despite using different companies (ATI and NVidia), but that the CPUs are a completely different story." So much for the 8 times faster.. haha

Well I can clear up all the 2 Tflops deal, the CPU does 218 GFLOPS while the GPU does 1.8 TFLOPS. Theres the "2 Tflops" for ya.

Heres a link for ya (http://news.com.com/PlayStation+3+stats+spotlighted/2100-1043_3-5709571.html?tag=st.rc.targ_mb)

Also that IGN page is completely off since it shows the Tflops as CPU performance not the total system, quite a difference.

Oh sorry, I misread your post. Hmmm, rank within top 100 supercomputers? Where did you get that information from?

Sony's goal is to make games look as cinamatic as possible. To accomplish that goal, they must make the ps3 as powerful as possible so it does not freak me out even if it did rank that much.

Just want to mention there is a difference between graphics for movies and video games. Graphics for movies uses shaders while video games uses bit mapping. Bit mapping needs more processing power to produce. So to produce cinematic bit mapping, obviously the specs will have to achieve that level of technology.

From the link I posted, I cleared it up tho the CPU has 200+ GFLOPS where the GPU has 1.8 TFLOPS.

So, supercomputers have 200+ GFLOPS?

I learn something new everyday.

I belive that the Nvidia represntive at Sony's press conference said that the goal of RSX was to use real-time shaders insted of bit mapping. Thats why the graphics on the PS3 look so much better because the GPU is using techniques that high budget movies use.

As for being in the top 100 supercomputers its not realy a strech to think that all three next-gen systems would qualify. The curent crop of consoles have already been classified as super-computers, infact I remember reading an article years back about the fact that special trade deals had to be made to ship them overseas, because they have the same power as super-computers.

Well the top supercomper as of Nov 2004 had well over 10Tflops...

Wingnut, you don't have pre-released version. Even if you do, there is no shit games released right now for it anyways. And it isn't a monitor. It is HDTV. And I know nintendo rev will play many good kids games.

Don't tell me what I have or don't have you spammy little twit... I have been playing my beta test version of Killzone 2 (by the way... it looks just as good as the video and is rendered in real time... what do you expect with that many teraflops?) for a good week or two now... but I couldn't say anything until after the E3 opened (damned NDAs).

And yes, it is a monitor, not an HDTV you fucktard. Even a 1080P HDTV is incapable of reaching 2000x1000 resolution (although it is close at 1920x1080). And what is an HDTV but a large monitor?

Still... it was rather sad when I had to hire a group of laborers to bring in my new console to my home... I even had to have them reinforce the floor so that it would not fall through the ceiling.

Go and spew your fanatical (and lame) devotion to a product that does not exist yet in the GameFAQS forum or someplace else. Just think... you could be arguing with a well informed gamer instead of pirates that just think you are a dickwad.

Hey wipeout, what the hell is your deal? The ps3 hasn't even been released yet and all of a sudden your an expert? Don't act like you know everything about it when you know just as much as anybody else! (Hey.. 600 posts)
