I have a 5.1 surround sound system hooked up to my PC. I use the built in sound card (se mobo here (http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130484)). Even though all 3 cables are hooked up, only the left and right channels work like they are supposed to. I'm pretty sure its not a hardware problem, because all 6 channels work properly when I use the config tool that came with my motherboard. Itunes seems to recognize all 6 channels as well. However, nothing else seems to. Half life 2, Halo, media center, VLC - none of them recognize anything beyond the left and right channels. I have tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. BTW, the drivers are Realtek AC97 drivers. any help would be greatly appreciated - there's not much point in having a 5.1 system if you are only able to use 2 channels.
