View Full Version : Definition of a leacher ?

What would most people here define as a leacher? Apart from the obvious, i.e sharing no files, downloading what they want then logging off.
Currently I'm sharing around 150 files (DivX movies,mp3's and software) I only have a 20gb Hd so when my D/l folder gets to around 10 -12gb I burn everything to Cd and start again (therefore ruling me out of all but a few DC hubs), sharing no files until I've downloaded new stuff. If I kept on My Hd all that I'd downloaded in the past year or so I'd need an 100gb Hd.
Am I a leacher ? Should I, after burning all to cd leave a few files to share ? With the Kazaa 2 is this obviously the best way to go ?

i understand ur plight, but to rectify the situation you should invest in large second HD, a 120GB would do you wonders in the long run, it would allow you to get into most hubs on DC and DC++ and it would greatly contribute to file-sharing in general

just as long as you were sharing your files when you had them.........I suppose it would be alright.

Just my opinion, but even when I burn my media,I always keep some to share. After all we have to get them somewhere.

:shy Its not a moral attitude, if we dont share nobody gets, and the more that share the faster we get it and can get the next file.

i think you should keep on your HDD what seems to be most popular (just a few files) ... maybe a movie or two, and a few mp3's etc. but you really should get a second HDD... i dont know how i lived with only 30 gigs now that i got a second 60 gig/ oh and another thing you could do is share a cd u burned. just put it in the drive and shre the drive. better than nothing.

I was always under the impresion that sharing a Cd-rom drive would slow down the transfer speeds...?

I doubt it, since today's CD ROM drive's are all UDMA2 an 32 - 52X an all that. But it does seem like you'd be slowing killing your CDROM if you did that. If you can't pick up a huge HDD pick up a used 6 gig an toss it in as a second drive an share that an only that. 6 gig's per person would still be a ton of files. An no transfer would ever over come the drive.
Peace all, Later
