Review: 'Doom 3' Debuts for Xbox

If your bloodlust somehow wasn't satisfied after vaporizing the umpteenth demon in last year's PC version of "Doom 3," id Software Inc. has released a reworked Xbox version and an expansion pack for the PC with even more carnage.

In many respects, the Xbox version ($50, M-rated) is superior to the PC edition of this first-person shooter.

The stunning graphics remain largely intact, as do the hair-raising shrieks and moans of the zombies and hellish minions.

Sorry, but Doom 3 just sucked. One of the few games I have ever thrown away.

How can you say that? Have you played it? Probably not. Only a select few people even know what it looks like (for sure, that is. yeah, I've seen the pics too) much less what it will be capable of.

Best thing about the xbox, i dont need to keep buying faster video cards and motherboards with top of the line processors. I know pc graphics are great and pc games can be a ton better. But its mostly due to the release of a platform gaming machine that cant be upgraded as new graphics and games are designed to take advantage of it.. and later they fall far behind. I had doom3 before the release date on xbox.. I really only touched the game once. SO many to choose from now days.

ya i know that the ps3 will be better, sony expects it to be 1000 times better than the ps2 and obviously xbox 2 will be better than xbox without looking at the graphics, just look at the hardware they have. One hardware is the chip codename "cell" and the processing speed will make you jump out of your chair. Another hardware from ps3 that xbox 2 doesn't have is the blu-ray disk. This disk holds more information than a dvd. A 200GB disk is in development. It's portable. It'll make your hard drive look like a piece of garbage. If you want to look at the graphics, sure, look at the screenshots of elder scrolls 4 oblivion, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or madden next-gen but don't forget to look at the madden next-gen trailer to see it in motion. Also if you trust what the developers are saying then you don't need to play the games. They said there's going to be better artificial intelligence and physics engine. Also S.T.A.L.K.E.R has weather effects, day and night cycle and even the cycle of the 4 season. There's even alternative endings to give you a chance to play the game again. I looked at the trailer and their official site and there's endless amount of weapons. Even pistols have at least 5 types. Can't wait to buy it. This game makes halo 2 look like a piece of garbage. By the way, i forgot to mention the Unreal Engine 3.0 will be further proof of what i'm trying to say. Look at their screenshots.
