Does anyone know whats going on with XoloX these days? It's been a while since they were top news on zeropaid. I think it's time that Matt conduct another interview with them to find out what's going on with their updates. They were a fav. of mine earlier in the year( & for a lot of people as well), now they've just gone dormant. Wake up XoloX!

Maybe they got discouraged by so many people's harsh words about them for their pop-under ads. It was silly for them to try to make a living off a P2P app. anyways. I haven't missed them at all. Hell I don't even have any Gnutella clients installed on my computer anymore.

i think any program that somebody tried to make a living off of will fail with time. i think the some banners on the main website, and maybe 1 or 2 banners in a "start page" would be ok, if these were to provide money for server costs... but i will never pay for limewire or bearshare or kazaa...

It's impossible to make a living off of P2P at least.. because you're going to be dealing with freeloaders. It just comes with the territory. I think most people are just looking to get something for free when they download a P2P app. It's not like working for Adobe or Macromedia, where you have professionals paying for your software. File sharers are going to find crackz to get paid P2P apps for free or even remove the ad banners. You can't tame P2P. If you do something that looks sleazy or profitable, someone's going to rip you a new one.

I'll tell you one thing, they have lost a lot of loyal fans as a result with Shareaza & Ares being amongst peoples favorites. The public have lost interest in them for their lack of updates, features & their pop-under ads. If you ask me, they've had their "15 minutes of fame" when they annoucnced their return to Gnutella. If they want their loyal fans back, then they better update us on a more frequent basis & interacting with the public more often. Just my opinion.

Xolox had like a team of people working on it.. rather than just being some guy's hobby. So i think that mightve been the reason that they needed the funding, to help them figure out new ways to improve the gnutella protocol, that sort of thing.. i didnt mind the pop-under ads.. and they dont even come up any more, i think they listened when people complained.

and pardon me in advance for slamming other people's efforts, but XoloX has got to be one of the 2 or 3 worst P2P apps I've ever encountered. bad for the network, bad for the users.

attention Xolox users: if you haven't tried Shareaza yet, please at least give it a whirl. I guarantee you'll never go back. (no, I'm not affiliated with Shareaza in any way, i just appreciate quality software)

Whiff, you know I never will think of you as a troll, you know a lot more than me as I can see! And yes Shareaza is very notable. But I think a big thing about XoloX is the simplicity. As it didn't do anything confusing it let noobs really get a feel to filesharing. But I do support their efforts but unfortunately they blew it on their come back.

That is my two cents:wings

Alright honest opinions, trolls, and others.
I agree, xolox didnt do anything "great" for a while, but that's because the entire code library was being re-written. Not being in development over a long period of critical updates in Gnutella just forced xolox to have to really catch up... i think it finally has taken the steps to do that.

ANYWAY...1.3 was released today and is MUCH improved. Shortly thereafter 1.4, 1.5. etc will include full UP support, etc, etc Btw, some of the program above are great. But go spam somewhere else :)

speaking of the 1.3 release is there anywhere else to d/l it other Cnet? Either they are being overwhelmed by d/l requests or d/l page is not working which is not the first time.

There's some weird issue with the one coming from cnet ( and they are overwhelmed with requests or something), seems the file was corrupt or something to this effect. So no updates have been sent to current clients to update yet. No story posted on zeropaid, once again for the same reason.
I believe email was sent to ZP thursday about the release though.
