I expect this has been asked before but I can't find it so can I ask?
I cant get mtv videos to play oy launch.yahoo.com to work in firefox. When I play a video at mtv.com it says that I need to download the plugin so I click the link and it downloads wmp9 so I uninstalled wmp10 and tried wmp9 and it still doesnt work. What plugins or extensions do I need to install to get these to work?
Yahoo Launch comes up with a message about Netscape and I'm not even using netscape, I'm using firefox, anyone encountered this problem before?
Thanks

It's some work, but apparently it can be done. However, I don't really see the need to - first, I use Firefox because I don't want ActiveX in my browser. Second, it's just easier to either open IE and watch the video (I just set launch.com as my IE homepage) or to just download the music video (you can find pretty much all main stream music videos on any major p2p network).
Also, there's an extension for Firefox that allows you to open any web page in IE by right clicking and choosing "View page in IE" - http://ieview.mozdev.org/

I looked into this problem recently also and read through those threads on mozillazine and decided it wasn't worth the effort or possibly weakening the security of Firefox with Activex. No AciveX is 1 of the +'s of FF over IE. Why play with that?

Cool, thanks. I'll just stick with the View In IE extension then. Thanks anyway :D

Thanks Napho, I think its the same one as here: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Web%20Annoyances&numpg=10&id=593
Unfortunately its not working on windows and wont be until the next release, so I'l just use ieview until then.
Thanks though :D
