I use both! I love WinAmp with support for plug-ins. There's a Lyricsmp3 plugin that automatically search databases of lyrics & display the lyrics for you while you are playing your mp3, thats sweet!

I think he's talking about LyricsAMP which can be found at winamp.com here (http://www.winamp.com/components3/detail.jhtml?componentId=121295) or at it's own homepage here. (http://www.lyricsamp.org/)

I don't use LyricsAMP myself, but I'm sure if you goto the Winamp Options -> Preferences -> Plug-ins section you can find out how to enable/configure it.

I do have both of them, too (maybe three if counting WA281 and WA3 (Studio.exe). Voted MMJB :
I have had a keygenned version of MMJB and always got the updates on-line.
It has a bit complex interface at first sight, but after studying it (The Plus Version) a bit more, I can only say, that it really beats WA2 & 3 in many quality functions. Nowadays I put all my MP's at MP3Pro format (MP4) to get them half-sized without a loss of quality. That's quite a fast to RIP directly to that format with MMJB.
I have subscibed to Radio-MX at MMJB getting music non stop without stupid speech in between. It's greatest feature is the proce : only $3/month to get 128kbps quality music to be recorded with my NeroMIXER. U can make endless amount of "own" stations based on favorite artists, era, combining pre-configured stations and many more fine things to do. That's nearly "Music-On-Demand", which has been a Law-Canditad at US congress...
WA I use for quickly opening MP3s and previews of Kazaa DLs and watching videos etc. It's good point vs. MMJB is that it uses much less resources and loads fast.
With all my favorite DJ's I use the DFX(DSP)-Effect add-on (xxx-loaded and keygenned). It enhances MP and Stream quality a LOT - I really like it (´Bass/Echo/Wide/Deep etc -enthusiastics dream!)
PS - now I wrote such a long story, wondering if someone even reads this...

Share The Files - Share The World - Share Hearts (&Music) !!!

I prefer for Video: Windows Media Player 9
For mp3's: WinAmp 2.81
For Audio and Video w/o codecs: WinAmp 3

Music Match came with my computer, but I dont like it as much.

Winamp is a player. MusicMatch is a player/encoder. Theyr'e two different beasts. most people who are serious about music use more than one app.

I thought you could use winamp to encode also. *shrugs* anyway my vote is for winamp :)

it does have WMA and WAV output plug-ins, but it's not an MP3 encoder.

i hate to say it, but i prefer wmp9 to all of them. it rips at half the size of mp3 and sounds better. is a part of windows so needs no extra space.

that is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard

of course it needs extra space-if it didn't take up space, you couldn't use it, and the space it does take up could be used for anything else--mp3's,avi's'oggs etc.

the program doesn't just pop out of windows magically--it's a 10 MB download that baloons out when it's installed--not a large amount by today's standards, but it takes up space nonetheless

NotBob is right......

Audio playback: Winamp 2.71 or 2.81.... heh....how about the oddest version of winamp I've got.... Winamp 2.666 - seriously....it's real LOL

Videoplayback: WMP 6.4

Ripper: EAC

Encoder: Cooledit or just the lame commandline

Line in recording: Messer

Video encoder/editor: Virtualdub/Adobe premiere

As for MMJB ...... IMHO it sucks.

Peace all, Later

I downloaded Winamp 3 : It Sucks!!!! Stick with winamp 2.xx!! The randomizer doesn't even work correctly? How could they have gone backwards? btw Music Match sux! Way too complicated! I've gor Winamp 2.76, and Dbpoweramp Music comverter.

PS: Does anyone know where I can get the winamp plugin 4 trillian pro - other than trillian.cc? I don't seem to be able to login ;)

I gotta give a big nod to MusicMatch. . . I started out using WMP (horrible, except for streaming audio/video), switched to WinAmp (but found it to be lacking and not very ergonomic), then switched to MusicMatch and have been psyched ever since.

I understand people's complaints that MM is a heavy program, but consider 2 things: out of the "box," MM contains many more functions and features, and if MM actually hurts your sys resources that badly, you MAY want to consider upgrading from 32MB of RAM. I have 512, and it runs just fine.

Another point: with larger MP3 collections such as mine (over 4000), you need a good program for cataloging your files into a library by artist/album/genre/etc. MM has the best built-in interface for an easy-access music library that I've seen.

To those who use MM: download the DFX plug-in. It's a nifty DSP tool which can make your MP3's sound 150% better. For an all-around MP3 music system with cataloging, ripping, converting, and playback. . . MusicMatch has it all in spades.

canrocks: just find the verified files at www.k-lite.tk, they have trillian pro with ALL plugins (when it first came out)

sockfulloflove: yes winamp does play cds, with the right plugin anyway, and i think 2.81 may have that feature built in, i know winamp 3 does

I would go winamp allllllll the way, musicmatch just invaded my system and is not free, i got popups asking to upgrade constantly, winamp with the right plugins can do everything MM can, and the best part is, its free!

as far as which winamp, go 2.xx, 3 is more bloated than WMP

i love winamp, i use it cause of all the skins, and plugins for it, i have one that removes vocals for it, it's pretty cool. i have used wa3, but i didnt like it that much, but for those that do, you'll love it even more with a plugin that enables you to rip your cd's. it's available here, http://winamp.com/components3/detail.jhtml?componentId=120931

i used to like MusicMatch, but it doesn't open in limited accounts. Same with Winamp3. So i guess I'm stuck with WMP9 and RealOne 2.0
