has anyone actually tested this? its not like the 666 version that conatianed a trojan is it? no thanks, ill stick to gnucleus. once again, people download unadvisable files, then blame microsoft because their computer is infested with a plague of bugs.

the 666 version doesn't have a trojan, it is out of date and no longer being developed though
btw anyone can compile the CVS from limewire.org with ANT
i've done it myself

ok checked the site and domain and there is no way i would use this. talk about lack of security to anyone that would install this. NOTE: to people out there considering installing this, consider this as well: Is the site that I'm getting this file from a trusted site? If there is something malicious about this file/site, is there any way to track down those responsible? Judge for yourself. I know i have. Try Gnucleus, a free open source client @ sourceforge.net. You get the same oif not better connection results even to Limewire than Limewire itself (including LW Pro). Limewire is for dorks who dont know how to use a computer. BTW Limewire basic is just as good and effective as pro. it has no spyware, the only ad is for LW pro. download speeds are completely identical. the only difference is about 10-20 seconds while searching for a file, even on dailup! LW pro is a sham! Modded versions of LW Pro almost always contain trojans!

I forgot, Phex gets more ultrapeer connections to LW than LW itself too. BTW as far as the Upnp goes for Limewire, I dont see how this is a "security improvement".

Is it just me or does anyone else NOT see any difference whatsoever between basic and pro except for the upgrade nag? Download speeds are identical for me. The search qeries are maybe a few seconds slower to respond. Why use an illegal warez, when you can get the same performance from the free version? Also, I tried installing a pro version that i downloaded from limewire, and i also regretably installed a trojan. IMHO, it is very poor advise to recommend that people use illegal software, because you really do not know the source of it. So, I suppose I agree with illferris on this, you have to be cautious of what you allow to be installed on your computer. The only truly safe version of limewire is from limewire.com.

Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems, but I have to ask where did you get the Limewire? If it wasn't from their official site, you may have gotten it from a scam site. I would suggest you visit here www.limewire.com and see if that helps. I don't recall seeing anything about a Limewire Lite, but I may be wrong there. It just sounds funny.
Also, don't download any of the versions higher than 4.9.30. You can go to Gnutella forums for more information. They're here http://www.gnutellaforums.com. We're a good bunch over there and very helpful.
I hope this helps you.

I just got back on the net after hurricane Wilma, which has been since October 12. I don't know what is going on with Limewire right now. They were supposed to go DRM. Anyone who wanted Limewire without the DRM should now go to Frostwire.com which is written by developers of Limewire and is not DRM. I mean, what is it with all this talk about "other sites?" Why not go to the source, huh.
