I think those are subtitles of a movie. If I recall correctly you install vobsub (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/VobSub.shtml) and your media player should play the movie with subtitles.

You can google them, or you can read the afterdawn forums, or, you can just burn them to

the cd with the movie, and viola, you have subtitles

To test them, put them in the same folder on ur hard drive, and play the movie, most players will read the sub instantly

ps: sub files have to the the EXACT same name as the movie, just with the other extention

To the best of my knowledge, A idx file with a movie is the index file with the sub file.
Having only the sub file will not always work for subtitles. You need the idx file and all names need to be the same.

How to handle these file .idx and .sub to watch the subtitles on the movie?
None of the above answers solved the question :(

If these posts didnt answer your question, buddy, YOU NEED A NEW QUESTION.

It's pretty freakin clear.

Same directory, same name.

You needed a conversion from sub to srt, you didn't ask that but I'm glad you found the answer.

That's for CONVERTING the subs you dweeb.

If you want to PLAY a movie with subs, you just have them in the same directory. The IDX and SUB files have the timing keys in them along with the sub text.

You did not specify play vs convert, so as I previously stated, YOU NEED A NEW QUESTION. *whack*

Install the Ace Mega Codec Pack and read this - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/105939

Thanks you all, your help was very usefull.
Now iam watchin movies with subtitles :).
Thanks.

And btw, in the future, use google for all the rest of you needs, and stay the fuck off a forum where people give you correct answers. Cya.

u could have just googled for wot u r looing for. anyways here goes my try to help u:
download media center classic(mpc), it comes bundled wth k-lite codec pack, and install it, then rename ur .idx and .sub files to the name of the .avi they are associated with. play the .avi with the mpc and it should work for u. and ofcourse u will need vobsub installed for that.( i am presumming that u will or already have installed some kind of codec pack which includes vobsub.)

He was probably trying to use a standalone player, which requires srt files and doesn't understand sub/idx files.

Yes, that is a def possibility, but thats not what he stated or asked about.

Either way he should be at afterdawn.

Google did bring me here. And the questions are correct (mine and the first one), but the answers are not.
Sorry.

The answer to the original question is correct.

If you needed file conversion, you didn't ask about that which is why Krell snapped.

Thanx. I'll try this mpc, but I think my subs are broken because I used VLC and Media Player Classic
and did not work :( and I had installed k-lite codec pack with vobsub :o

No, I'm trying to watch the movie on the my PC but I use many players and codecs and named the
files with the same names and did not work. That's why I'm trying to convert this .idx and .sub to .srt :)
Thanx :D

.srts should work with vobsub too... it's just not as pretty.

Try another movie with subs and you'll know whether it's your player/codec situation, or the files themselves.

Converting to srt is a pain from sub/idx, and really only needed for standalone players.
