Just wondering after the last time with bde do you think they have changed, and are the good guys now? Remember what they were going to use your computers for.

They are going to a paid version soon, so no, I don't trust them.

I would not trust them as far as I could throw them. All the crap that they bundle with their software and I beleive that they are capable to keep doing it. Long Live KazzaLite.

:shy Next question, how do we know that there is no other software installed ? Sorry if I sound paranoid, but i intend to pretend it is my computer.

that's like asking if you trust Micro$oft...I don't know any informed tech thatd say yes. same thing with $harman.

It's funny- I doubt Yuri would have made Kazaa Lite if Sharman hadn't put spyware in Kazaa. Putting spyware in probably cost Sharman more than they gained because of lost ad revenue since KL 2.0 blocks all ads. Based on who I upload and download to, I'd say at least 5-10% of all Fasttrack users are on KL.

I don't think, they get paid on per click basis anymore, are they?

Anyway, there are plenty of uninformed users for Kazaa, so they will be happy to include any spyware or adware into their software!!!

I think if they had come forward and said 'yeah we need to put ads and we need help to succeed' I would have trusted them, but when they didnt say anything 'till they got caught, and they still didn't want to do anything about it, no they dont deserve trust. but I love them still because they kept kazaa going for the people who dont care, so that kazaalite can thrive.

Says it all, perfect. I would like to see multiple clients competing for the market share - ad space can be sold on the install screens and the support site without buggering up the software but I would avoid sharman products like the plague. What they did was little short of purposfully planting a hidden trojan in their software - somehow they did it with borderline legality.
There is nothing wrong with kl or dk, from what I've heard grokster's ok too and I am sure non kazaa rip-offs are soon to follow. I good dose of healthy competition with each distributer pointing out the competitors flaws it whats needed.
The micro$oft comment reminded me that without Linux, Microsoft products would not be of the high standard that they are today. And before you all whine about me being m$ sell out(or whatever) I would tell you I am posting this from my linux server that sits next to my XP PC. They each do different things to different standards but both products strive to equal or better the others strong points.
Sorry, I do go on a bit don't I?

The answer to your first question is quite simply, no.
The answer to the second is, we don't. Not for sure. We don't know what any software company has really done without going through all the code with a fine tooth comb and a degreee in software engineering. From AA-Milemaster to Visio we have to trust these companies to do the right and legal thing.
