tsi2.db keeps coming back when deleted. the file TopSearch.dll has the ip address http://217.116.227.249/topsearch/ and kazaa doesn't give a fuck*ing shit whether you block http://www.altnetp2p.com, because it simply goes to http:// 217.116.227.249/topsearch/ and downloads tsi2.db, and then all the altnet results are back, what a fuck*ing shit,- and one can't change it in TopSearch.dll with a hex editor- checksum is checked, if it's wrong, kazaa doesn't start. HELP!!!! somebody tell me how to block this ip address, or somebody please find out how checksums work in kazaa so that I can change this address in TopSearch.dll

I'm using Kazaa Lite v2 and the gold AltNet icons still appear, so this is what I did to fix it:
Kazaa v2 uses the file TSI2.CAB which contains the .DAT and .DB files. If you remove this file, Kazaa will redownload it. If you replace this file, Kazaa will delete it and redownload it. So, just goto your Kazaa (Kazaa Lite) folder and delete the TSI2.CAB file. Then create a directory called TSI2.CAB. (Just type "md tsi2.cab" from a command prompt or right click and Create New Folder in Windows Explorer.)
This has prevented Kazaa v2 from displaying any AltNet gold icons on my system. I'm sure it would work the same with older versions of Kazaa, just make the folder TSI.DB (or TSI2.DB) instead of TSI2.CAB.

I was checking out the files in the Kazaa(Lite)\DB folder and noticed that there was a 1.4 MB file that contained every search I've ever done and every file I've ever downloaded. So in addition to my previous post, I would also recommend removing the DB folder and creating an empty file called DB in the Kazaa folder. This will prevent Kazaa from creating a new DB folder and storing that information.

Elistas, you are THE MAN!! It works! BIG THANX for the tip. why haven't I thought about this? so simple, this solution. created the folder, no icons any more, no altnet download; no ip blocking is necessary any longer (didn't work anyway). wonder how kazaa is going to prevent us from using this trick in the next version.

Hi, Elistas, i tried your tip for making an empty folder and renaming it to tsi2.cab...and it worked like a charm..thanks.
Now a question for you....when you suggested doing the above for the db folder...did you mean to create a new text document and call it "db" with no file extension like .txt or whatever or just an empty folder?
the reason i ask is that I always thought that you needed those db or dbb folders in there...i thought it stored a "hash" or hashed inventory of all the files you had available for sharing which i thought was supposed to prevent kazaa from rescanning everything you had available for sharing and making it load slower...is this not the case?
i just deleted everything inside the db folder and for some unexpected reason..the contents DID NOT recreate themselves...
btw anyone know how to get debugging information out of the kazaa executable?
thanks,
