Hi there,

I'm studying some P2P-clients for a paper and now I'm looking into messaging IN P2P-software (shareaza, emule, limewire, etc.)
Can anybody tell me if this 'service' is being used much, besides threats from the MPAA and the RIAA, and if there are any numbers on the usage of it?
Do you use it?

Thanks

I don't think its used much in many clients. Some people uses it in Ares I believe but in Winmx its a major part of the program. Most people using Winmx use the chatrooms as a way of finding people who have the same type of files they want. Many a trade is made in IM on that network, in fact, if you don't make contacts and become a reg member you won't be getting the good stuff.

Most other networks its not a factor.
