No, not linux... it's Chomsky Torrents (http://www.chomskytorrents.org/).

"The purpose of this site is to enhance the distribution of non-copyrighted video and audio material of American dissident Noam Chomsky's talks and interviews, as well as other progressive and radical pieces, using BitTorrent peer-to-peer technology. The idea is to establish a place for gathering relevant torrents available on various popular BitTorrent sites, as well as information about their content and quality."

Wow, vedy interesting! BT is great for things like this. I hope one day it is more known for legal uses than for copyrighted things. There could be some really good ways of putting BT to work for artists and students so they could get their work out to a huge audience with out going to Sony for promotion.

I would like to see a BT site become huge for promoting unsigned artist who are on tour or wanting to tour. If they could release some of their music on BT, attract some fans and then hopefully sell Cd's on the road with new material for cheap. Maybe start a whole new info structure on the way music is bought and sold.

Sorry, didn't mean to bum rush the thread. I just like to see legal uses for BT.

the great one

I agree! There needs to be more legit uses for BT and all P2P for that matter.

Most of the time all that is seen are the illegal uses for it,which gives anti p2p groups more grounds to argue against p2p.

The more uses like this that come up the better, that way there is proof that p2p is indeed being used for legit purposes too.

Not at all, Mels... I'm just as happy to see BT used for furthering information as well as my collection of digital goodies.

I've listened to a few Chomsky lectures before and have seen one of his videos about mass media. Great listening, and I'm kinda geeked about this treasure trove.
