I have this biostar mobo where when I tried to run DC 512's it locked up and the fsb just wouldnt go past 200 on my amd mobil chip I went back to my old setup which was Microns/crucial 256x2 and 1 128 pc1600 the funny thing is cpuz and sisoft sandra are giving me readings as still dual channel activated. How can this be? also I was able to reach a somewhat solid 200fsb and a little over 2400mhz range on the cpu with the old setup. This board has issues with dual sided memory running in dual channel so I guess my question is my old configuration really isnt dual channel correct?

Thanks I dont think ill buy anything from biostar again! what do you guys like for a solid mobo?

Do you know if you can buy single sided 512mb ram now? because thats what the issue is on dual channel it doesnt read it right. I may just leave it alone and upgrade with a new board instead.

Im doing a slot A any advice?

Im back to stable now and this machine is running a 2400 mhz clock on 1.625 volts on 1600 series micron chips this amd processor impresses the hell out of me. Shame i didnt have a good board to really see what it can do. im also runnin 41- 49C full load which is great considering I didnt use AS5 but only the goo that came with the fan I bought.

I guess ill just nuthug this board for a few more months, with heavy gaming its just never gonna cut it.

As far as the question of whether or not Dual Channel is really enabled, chances are it will tell you on the POST screen, or even within the BIOS setup.

I'm currently on a Giga-byte board. It's been pretty solid. Also pretty much everyone I talk to about motherboards seems to like Asus, though I haven't had any extensive experience with them as of yet.

I'm on my 3rd ECS mobo in 3 years on my personal systems.
I've used asus and yes, biostar, for other people recently with no problems.

Thank's I have really looked around on the post and bios Nothing. will look again and cpuz and si soft says it is. The rams in the right slots for 2 channel however when I pushed to 200fsb with the 512s it was erratic with reboots I then scaled back to 189fsb with the multiplier set to 12. Still instability problems and a real fight with prime 95s heat torture test so I decided to lose 20 bucks on the rma and send the 512s back to newegg.

I also contacted Biostar and informed them they needed to upgrade there bios, what they sent me back was meaningless which convinces me that even with a hacked bios you may be able to push FSB up I bet it crashes out and isnt stable.....fuck biostar never again

Im giving biostar a thumbs down on a dual channel ready board that is rated to 2 gigs and cant even run 1 without crashing out because it cant handle dual sided ram sticks.

From what I have read this revision will work http://www.biostar.com.tw/products/mainboard/board.php?name=M7NCG

My problem is this issue has existed for a while and biostar has done absolutely nothing to correct it.
