Make Dynamic IP Static

I have Southwestern Bell (SBC) DSL and it came with a dynamic IP address, well I want to host my own FTP server and website and i need a static address,

how do i go about changing my dynamic address to static in windows xp?

go to www.no-ip.com

sign up, download their little client program, set up a host, and voila! destination reachable at any ip addy you might have--i use this for my dc hub (i also have sbc), but you could use it for a webpage or ftp server also
