View Full Version : Why WinMX 3.x ?

First, this is not (another) v3.3 bash. I have been using WinMX for a long time and it is IMO still the best filesharing tool there is.

Now, I understand there was some sort of network revamping between versions 2.x and 3.x, and I would like to know what was the reason for that. Does anybody here know it ? Is the new network more efficient ? More stable ? Or it just fancied the developers ? Any ideas ?

This is the kind of change that has the potential to alienate many users (who are not patient enough to wait until the new network is widespread, just check some of the complaints about eDonkey/Overnet), so IMO it would only be made if there was a significant gain of some sort.

Well I am more than happy to deal with the issues faced by a major upgrade of network.

The benefits of multisource downloads in itself is an adequate reason.

But the AFs (Auto Find Sources) and other improvements are staggering.

As far as im concerned, the WPNp has really evolved into a really viable p2p tool
