Well, I got mine & I'm still excited. :tilted
There is a story about a guy, who sold his car to get one ( http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3139083 ). I hope, he got to the store in time!
If you got one, and you know a game that got good review or a game you played that you really liked. Let me and others know! :gj

lay away....., though they did let me take it out of the box, finger it and watch part of spider man 2. amazing, i have never seen such a high res, high quality display before, it is like a mini 16:9 HDTV monitor.
And it is just fucking beautiful to look at and hold. ergonomic, great controls etc. Though it does need a good firmware update from everything i have read.
As far as games go, Ridge Racer, and Wipeout Pure, even if you are not into the racing genre they are awesome and offer phenomenal graphics and playability.

it will drop in price, its about supply and demand though, so hence people will sell it for whatever they want which is usally higher then the suggestion price.

livers have several lobes
you could sell one (illegally) and provided it was done by a good surgeon in a real hospital (difficult with the illegality) you would live
and spend a lot less on alcohol too!

I will get one eventually, when there's more games for it. Mostly RPGs.
Anyone know exactly what type of media it will take? I know it has specilized CDs, but will it take DVDs? Just curious to know if I'll be seeing people start pirating PSP games like GBA ones.

The PSP Value Pack will retail for a suggested price of $250. That buys the gaming unit, stereo headphones, a 32-megabyte Memory Stick Duo, battery and charger, a wrist strap, a soft carrying case and a Universal Media Disc featuring the movie "Spider-Man 2."

Damn... $250 is what I pay for heat every month. Hmmm... heat or gaming? Tough choice.

lmao, thats funny NB.
Frozen shadow, as far as your media question, it will not take dvds, a dvd is way to big for the unit. Though it will accept media uploaded to the unit via usb stored on its Pro Duo memory stick. (comes with a 32 meg stick, you can buy much larger ones) It will play mp3, attrac encoded songs, pictures, and video in the mpeg 4 format.
So yes, you can use it to what ripped movies, provided they are a compatible res. It will not play Mpeg 4 in it's native screen size, which is 480x272.. it will play however 320x240 which is still god considering it is only a 4.2 inch display.
There is a hack on the net called PSPres, which will change the header information of video files and allow you to rip video files in resolution it does not consider standard, such as 420x172, as long as it is a multiple of 16, and it does not deviate from the 16x16 macroblock method.
They are working on getting it to accept video which is native to its 16:9 screen.
Video even at a lesser res than the native 480x272 if encoded right it still looks fantastic on the machine.
*edit*
They are releasing movies on the unit in UMD format, for about 14 bucks. so far 27 studios have signed on.

The PSP uses its own proprietary UMD non rewritable discs (for games and movies) and expensive sony brand memory cards.
The UMD discs are about 1.8gb or something, so if pirates do get to rip the games you will need to buy a 1.8gb+ sony memory card to store the game on.

My PSP has a plasma.
I don't see this becoming much of a movie watching device. There are some really nice portable (cheap) DVD players out and most people already have a lot of DVD's. I think it chould have been more focused on gaming only to keep the cost down. But geeks everywhere will geek out over it none the less. Parents will bawk. Pirates may have a little more fun.
Why are the people with PSP's posting? Shouldn't you be playing that bad ass thing?

Am going to wait for a month until the supply shortages drop
Spiderman 2 is a good launch incentive but will be in the used bin soon for a few bucks..

I am still having fun with my original green screen gray colored Gameboy. Almost 13 years and the damn thing still works. Eats AA's like crazy...oh well. More fun than what most consoles give me.

no we do not.. and even so. The price of the PSP right now is worth about a liver and a half...
Your going to have to wait until the units value drops to equal about half a liver... that's a whole one liver in price.... Or you could try to bargain a gall bladder and kidney combo... that possible could do it as well. good luck
