hi all
i have been using different clients for filesharing, i have used all the networks available except 2:
irc and newservers.

so i wanna try and learn how to use irc for file sharing. i d/l mirc, after installing and port forwarding and all other settings and i got to made it run, but i am not to be able to connect to all the servers like efnet. while searching for how to learn using irc, i came across bots, i did google it but got hundreds of results showing different bots for irc.
so my problem is:
-> there are so many networks, how do i find which one is the best to join and which will have the max number of users and files(high quality).
-> and which bot to use, i have already installed mirc, can it be used for downloading or do i need some other bots preferablly a bot which is gui based.
i thnk tat will be all for now.

If you're just downloading you won't need a "bot" per se.

A lot of people use things like XDCC Klipper (http://xdccklipper.sourceforge.net/)...but be careful with that. Any kind of automation to IRC filesharing is difficult to do, because it's common to run into bots that don't conform [to the standard xdcc send command] because their owners don't want automated scripts to be able to get files from them.

Be careful, especially with timers. They can and will get you banned from a bot, or even a channel.

As for where the files are, there's not really a one best place. I tend to go (http://www.ircspy.com) to wherever (http://www.packetnews.com) the files that I'm looking for happen to be.
