For the network and searches:
1. Get more memory, a faster processer, upgrade so you can use the primary connection without crashing. That way you get more search results.
since no. 1 is not an option for most people (including me)
2. Use the secondary connection, but if the messages are taking forever or you notice the searches slowing down or not providing enough results (like 50 for "The Bealtes") Disconnect. Then Reconnect. Search. If its still too slow, repeat. I know this gets tedious, but its the only way to reslove a slow network connection. You may have to do this alot.
For Downloads and Queueing:
1. Get into queue. If you don't move, get ready to beg. (most useful if it is a rare file) Send the user messages with promises of speed, trade, that you'll always share, money, etc. Don't spam though. you'll get blocked.
2. wait.

I can certainly understand about how WinMx can be slow when you connect with the primary connection..... when I connect, its like there is MAJOR traffic going through my connection, when I'm not uploading or downloading anything.... but when I check the bandwidth meter, I'm uploading in the neighborhood of 50Kbps...... and everything seems to move in slow motion on the screen, like the pc is really bogged down. When I connect to the secondary connection, it works better..... but I do still have the same problem with people sharing their downloaded files folder...... I keep getting their STUPID PARTIALS........ which, when I have already 10% of a file or more.... and I try to download from a person who only has 9% or less..... it resets my file... and gives me a file error...... (ever notice this?) so, please, people...... DON'T SHARE YOUR DOWNLOADED FILES FOLDER move your complete files to your shared folder, instead..... so people aren't trying to upload your partial files!!!
Thanks....

If they hadn't forced so many users on the same version we may not be haveing this trouble to begin with.
:cross
I think all the waiting sucks, too many ppl.. And remember this is supposed to be a share program NOT trade !!!!
I hate to cut ppl off, however can't wait 6hrs. for someone to download to let others in. Can only allow so many uploads at a time. Where will it all end ?????????????? :tol

I'm with Caitlyn. Good manners brings results--excellent results I might add. For the life of me I don't understand why anonymity has to equate to boorish behaviour. It's no-win.
WinMX and programs like it provides a window into the human condition. Fascinatingly eye-opening. Browse a collection and get all kinds of insight into the owner's psyche. Try verifying your hunches by chatting with the person. I've talked with people from all over the world--it's a veritable blast.
However, I do zap people if they're not sharing. Zapping is always preceded by a message, "Kindly bring some goodies to the table when dining from my plate." Most times, they'll move on or they'll drop me a note of explanation. If they bother to respond, I say to myself whatthehell and give them carte blanche. One time though I zapped someone by mistake, realized my error and immediately sent a mea culpa message with heartfelt apologies. All sorts of goodies came as a result of that move. Long interesting chat and access to a collection of an OTR series that I had been having a hard time getting. It was fast one-stop shopping--thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Likewise, when someone shows good faith, I bend over backwards for that person. Besides which, it just makes me feel good. The goodytooshoers are out there. Tap in--it's addicting.

I can't agree with this more.
First of all, setting your queue too high is bad for the entire network!!!
Second of all, if you set your queue too high, your download list will be filled with a bunch of useless sources that you will never see. "So what?" You might be asking yourself. Well, when you have too many sources to download from, WinMX will not allow you to search for any more sources, and it will no longer "Auto Find Sources!". This is very bad for you. This means you'll probably never see the file you're after.
If you're searching for MP3's set your queue to about 2 or 3, or even Never is good for small, (semi-)popular files.
If you're trying to download a large/rare file, you might have better results setting your queue to 15 or 20, but definately no higher than that. You want WinMX to keep searching for more sources for you that don't have an outrageous queue! Now that I think about it, even 20 is probably too high... maybe 10 or 15.
I have my default AEQ set to 2. If I'm downloading a large/rare file, I will adjust it as needed for that particular file.
If people would not abuse the AEQ, it would make everyone's experience alot better, and put an end to all of the outrageous queuing that's been going on since the upgrade to 3.3.
Something to think about...

there's no need to set you queue thing at anything more than 20, especially if its a movie, since we all know how long it takes to get a movie, even on broadband, and if there's 50 people ahead of you.............
though it is annoying when you can't get that rare file..........the file you would kill for.......because
a. you get in queue. you will either be 4th or 40th, but you always get pushed back or stalled.
b. the user is on like once a month and they are the only user with that file!
c. you send messages, but they don't respond!!!!!!
if there's anything so annoying, its that.

As a matter of fact, I've decided to just turn the default AEQ off completely. It's useless and it does more harm than good unless you're trying to get a large file... And if you are, you can just change the setting for that particular file.
IMO, WinMX shouldn't even allow AEQ by default. It should have to be set manually for each file if you want to use it.... kinda like the autocomplete for 3.22. This would make the network soooo much better and faster for everybody. When I see someone entering a queue to download some Nelly or Eminem song from me with about 1000 other sources, I just think to myself "what a waste of resources".
