Microsoft’s enhanced search function for advertisers or revenue?

In an attempt to capture the search engine advertising market, Microsoft has unveiled a new technology, AdCenter, which gives advertisers a little more than search specialists Yahoo and Google do. AdCenter, in addition to keywords, would also give advertisers the surfer’s details like location, age, gender, lifestyle and local time of the search helping them cater to the most relevant audience. The function will give best results if the person searching for information is a registered user who has keyed in his personal details on the site.

That doesn't sound too good! I think for now I'll just stick with Google.

Who would want such a service besides the advertisers? This is nothing more than another attempt to mine money from the internet to line corporate pockets at the users expense. My info is not for free on the net, I do everything I can to prevent them from getting such data. Further, if I know they do such, I certainly don't buy their products. Why reward some company for such practices by buying their products?
