Which do you like better APE or FLAC?
APE (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/) - Monkey's Audio
FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/) - Free Lossless Audio Codec

Monkey and Flac are both good I have used them for testing purposes only though I dunno I just dont see all that big of deal the MP3 format serves its purpose quite well imho which is why I stick to catalouging my CD's in MP3 192kb CBR some folks may have a little more sensitive ears to the listening expirence that they get from music but I enjoy most 128k encodes as well there is a noticable differnce in quality but not too awful bad though it is a preferance to have 192kb CBR encodes I aint too picky I judge each song as to how it sounds to me some songs just dont cut the mustard at 128k while others sound quite nice and there is no huge differnce..
Flac or Monkey I think are great for the very particular folks who like to archive things in lossless formats...
I wonder myself why there has not been a movie compression that mimics this way of compression... we can already compress the audio now for the video ...

The only reason FLAC gets my vote is because it's completely open-source and widely accepted - which means years from now, you should be able to get codecs for it. Otherwise, it's pretty much a crap shoot.

Perhaps because a losslessly compressed movie would be 3GB.
It's a toss up between flac and monkeys (and shn for that matter) they sound identical.
.ape files are slightly smaller, but they use more resources on playback. FLAC use less resources but the file is slightly larger than the other two. It's all pretty marginal though. I give flac the nod because it's open source.

Still I feel as if it would be an achivement that would be worth achiving sometime within the near future and I dont doubt that it would happen but it'd just be considered another codec I suppose in all reality you already can get a dam good file quality out of divX...
