Shareaza

I'm using shareaza 2.1 and i mostly use it for music, but any song I download doesn't have any tags. Is there any way where I can download a song with tags? Thanks

strange. all mine do. not many changes to the config. Do other p2p progs dl with tags?

yeah ares does, but i was reading the wiki under shareaza settings and there is an option in shareaza called strip tag metadata under uploads, and it says

Strip tag metadata
"If this is turned on, Shareaza only shares the mp3 audio data without the tags. So you can change the ID3 tags and others will still be able to swarm the file from you and from others who have the same, but differently tagged file. Your files are not modified by this option. This is done by creating virtual files from your real mp3 files. You have to rehash your files for this to take effect.
This feature is now turned on by default. You should not disable this because your files get different hashes if this is turned off, and therefore someone cannot swarm a file from someone who has this feature enabled and someone who has it disabled, even though they have the exact same file.
However you might want to disable it if you are mostly sharing files on the eDonkey network, because most eDonkey clients don't support this feature (yet)."

Just turn it off... then you will get the tags that people have made for them.

On a side note, you can dl a tagger that uses naming data and other info to guess and retag them... I use musicbrainz.org's tagger on occasion. You can then st the parameters and tag the songs you already downloaded.

BTW... Shareaza is a buggy piece of shit (although having a lovely GUI). You should completely ignore the recommendaton by them, since you will never feel the positive effects of the "swarming" nor are there enough people on that net to really make a big difference.

This feature seems (from the documentation you provided) to be based upon hope. If you want the tag data, by all means turn off the "feature."

well I tried turning that off, still no luck. It looks like it only applies to the songs I share and not the ones I download. Mcovey you say all the songs you download off of shareaza are tagged? which version of shareaza are you running?

I've always gotten the tagg data from shareaza
Although I don't use it much anymore, 2.1 was the last version I used.
