so far winXP has been a TOTAL fag....my brand new CD-ROM drive wont read any of my discs....i cant disable the built in CD burner software and my CD burner wont read jack $shit....anyone help???? btw i already tried the updated drivers, compatability wizards....everything:mellow

I know you mentioned updated drivers, but did you uninstall the old drivers first? Also, you might want to go to the CD-ROM manufacturer website and download their drivers instead of using the ones included with Windows (if you haven't already that is).
My initial favourable impression of Windows XP is steadily degrading. I may soon return to Win2000.
