Sin City is based on a comic by Frank Miller, one of the best comic writters out there. The look of this film is amazing but with Robert Rodriguez helping out ,along with Quenten Tarantino, this will be the best movie of 2005. This movie will blow everyones socks off! I promise! Except for Modestas and Kleenr. I can;t wait!!! Its killing me!

if you look at some pictures from the comic you will see that the comic was made in black & white. Making it in full colour would be a stupid idea.

Saying 'why make a movie black and white in 2005' is like saying why would musicians still use orchestra for their music when they can use a synthesizer.

Kleenr is actually quite excited about Sin City.
Kleenr has read many of the graphic novels and can't wait to see Rosario Dawson.
Kleenr thinks this could be Robert Rodriguez's first good movie. (face it, they all sucked)

# After a poor Hollywood experience in the early-'90s, Frank Miller refused to relinquish the movie rights to any of his comic works, "Sin City" in particular. Robert Rodriguez, a longtime fan of the comic, filmed his own "audition" for the director's spot in secret. The footage, shot in early 2004, featured Josh Hartnett and Marley Shelton acting out the "Sin City" short-story "The Customer is Always Right". He presented the finished footage to Miller with the proclamation: "If you like this, this will be the opening to the movie. If not, you'll have your own short film to show your friends." Miller approved of the footage and the film was underway. Rodriguez also screened the footage for each of the actors he wanted to cast in the film - all of whom are reported to have been instantly amazed.
# Rodriguez, who credits Miller's visual style in the comic as relevant as his own in the film, insisted that Miller receive a "co-director" credit with him. The Directors' Guild of America would not allow it. As a result, Rodriguez resigned from the DGA, saying "It was easier for me to quietly resign before shooting because otherwise I'd be forced to make compromises I was unwilling to make or set a precedent that might hurt the guild later on." Unfortunately, by resigning from the DGA, Rodriguez was also forced to relinquish his director's seat on the film John Carter of Mars (2006) (at the time "A Princess of Mars" after the book on which it was based) for Paramount. Rodriguez had already signed-on and been announced as director of that film when the DGA situation took place, planning to begin filming soon after wrapping this film.
# Based on the graphic novels "Sin City" (this was the first of all the stories and originally had no title, but Miller has since re-named it "The Hard Good-Bye"), "The Big Fat Kill" and "That Yellow Bastard", by Frank Miller. The infamous "opening footage" with Josh Hartnett and Marley Shelton is from the Sin City short-story "The Customer is Always Right" from the "Babe Wore Red" collection.

I can't wait to see this on the big screen. The more clips i see the more I am amazed.
I also think that Robert Rodriguez did a very nobel thing in resigning from the DGA to give Frank Miller director credit for using his comics vision. I don't think anyone else in Hollywood would ever do such a thing. Rodriguez lost millions of dollars by doing this. Hopefully this will give Miller the cred he deserves to get more of his work noticed.

My God... people miss the fucking point.
This film is a Noir drama... based upon a comic that used black and white and color to accentuate points in the comic and give it an extra-gritty story. I am a huge fan of Robert Rodriguez as a director... he has shown amazing promise and he has unbeleivable potential with media that he believes in. I believe this will be his break-out film... the one that people will watch and either not get or realize and be blown away. Even those that are not astounded will see this vision and realize the value of it.
This movie is not black and white... it is noir with exclamation fucking pints... it is focusing the vision.
what is wrong with black and white? Color is just a tool. I have seen many films in B&W that far surpass the cinematic excellence of colored films.
Go and see this movie you mainstream tools. How often does a mainstream movie come out that will challenge you and expand the devices available for the major studios... this film will change the way films are made.
Modestas... you are a dipshit and will eat your fucking words... I guarantee.

Interesting fact to the film all the more reason to support the film as credit is going where credit is due so I would urge anyone with the slightest incline of a thought of going to see the film to go see it it aint too often you see a holywood director preform on the good sumeratian level unless there giving to chairity basically getting a tax write off for there money in the long run anyway...
Right on good find indeed.

According to Variety, Quentin Tarantino got paid exactly $1 to film a scene in Sin City. Robert Rodriguez co-directed the rest of the Dimension Films drama with Frank Miller, who created the graphic novel series. Tarantino filmed a scene in the final segment featuring Clive Owen, Benicio Del Toro and Brittany Murphy.
While it seemed Tarantino was working cheap, he actually got the better of the deal between himself and Rodriguez. After all, Tarantino paid Rodriguez $1 to compose the score for "Kill Bill Vol. 2."
Tarantino went to Austin, Texas, to shoot the scene and because he wanted to sample the digital filmmaking techniques Rodriguez used on "Sin City."

Mainly the cinematography was a fresh/new/interesting look to say the least, best new view that I have seen in along time....last new look that interested me was when "Reboot" first showed up on TV in the mid 90's..
Second.....I'm an old Mickey Rourke fan.

Thanks slackdaddy. I think alot of people will take notice once the ad's really start kicking in. It does have an amazing look and the scenes are straight out of the comic. Mostly word for word to from what I understand. I saw a web site that compaired a scene to the comic and it was the same, this is why Frank Miller derserves directing credit. His art and storys have always been my favorite(well in the top 5 anyway). To bad they destroyed Electra with that god awefull movie.
I first took note of his work in 1986 when I picked up the Dark Knight grafic novel as a kid. From there I read all of his work I could find. I'm so happy a director has given the man his due.
This may also be Mickeys big comeback movie as well.

Man... Dark Knight blew my mind... I am a big fan of year one as well... DK2 was disappointing, and Miller's pencils have become sloppier over the years, but he does have an unique vision. Robocop2 was an interesting film as well... not good, but had an interesting use of symbolism.
I wish that Warner would just film Miller's version of Year One, with no rubber suits or batmobiles - just a guy who has trained himself for his whole life to try to stop people from being victimized.

I'm wondering when an uncut version will be released since they had to fight to get an R rating. I'm sure thay had to cut some violence out damn it! I also wonder was Quentins scene cut, he was to direct the last scene but the way it ended makes me think his part might have been cut. I dont know.

Sin City, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's adaptation of the latter's noirish graphic novels, is to be made into a TV series.
The project is one of several on a tantalising slate for a new TV production company being set up by the Weinstein brothers through their new outfit, The Weinstein Co.
The Miramax founders, who left their own firm after a dispute with parent company Disney over their desire to make larger, more costly films, look set to use all their big screen connections as they vie to make inroads in the television sphere.
