I figured it would be a good idea to start a main thread to talk about each weeks opening movies. Good or bad.

This week we have,

Hostage-starring Bruce Willis. A police officer is wracked by guilt from a prior stint as a negotiator. When a mafia accountant is taken hostage on his beat, he must negotiate the standoff, even as his own family is held captive by the mob.

This is Willis returning to his crime fighting roots. Early reviews are good to average.

"Playing what is essentially an art house version of his "Die Hard" John McClane character, Willis wears the added layers of complexity effectively, as a reluctant hero struggling to clear a tricky path to redemption"

Bottom line: Bruce Willis plus cop redemption story plus Euro style equals "Die Hard With an Accent."

Bruce Willis fans will more than likley love this movie.

Robots-An animated science fiction/comedy starring the voices of: Ewan McGregor, Halle Berry, Robin Williams, Mel Brooks, Greg Kinnear.

"Set on a world populated entirely by robots, this is the story of a young genius, Rodney (Ewan McGregor), who wants to make robots capable of making the world a better place, but he finds his dream challenged by a corporate tyrant and a master inventor, Big Weld (Mel Brooks), while also being seduced by a sexy corporate robot, Cappy (Halle Berry)."

This is by the same team that made "Ice Age" and the word is the CGI is outstanding. Really everything being said about this movie points to blockbuster. Its said to be witty, funny, intelligent with even a few fart jokes for the kids to enjoy. But don't be fooled, this movie is about capitalism run amok and most adult will find it entertaining as well as having an important message.

Bottom line: You can't go wrong with Robots.

Robots gets my pick of the week. Its hard to go wrong with the people involved with this film.

There's this guy that comes into my work (gas station)... well, he doesn't really come in because he has problems walking. When we see him pull up, someone runs out, runs back in with money and grabs what he wants, rings it up and brings it out to him. He always gives whoever it is free movie passes. Perhaps I'll use one of these passes to see 'Robots'!
