it is the official client and ihave used it and i have notice much better proformance then any other bt client . I still hate the the fact no peer stats no priorty settings and no firewall info. I guess i can use this untill the next version of tornado has this new protocol info.

no peer stats no priorty settings and no firewall info. This should the cause for better performance. Original bt share in a way that download rate is somewhat positively related to upload rate(your contribute to the torrent). So it is reasonable that the official client don't want the user to adjust setting easyly, in order to maintain the healthy, well balanced transfer status.

I think everyone should leave BT and move away from this web based leech program. Lets get back to the way everyone use to share files.

it's irrelevant

azureus and others have already surpassed the original client by factors of 10 as far as usability and performance are concerned

the original client has been marginalized for a long time

Not really. They are all based on the original spec, after all. Minor tweakage, is all.

How do you mean Mel?

Is not the basis of BT to prevent leeching and encourage sharing?

I mean it has it's security problems that can't be fixed, but there's still power in numbers and nothing makes for a faster dl beside ftp.

maybe mell wants us to use anonimus programs.
lol
Seriusly though, there's nothing as fast and quick as bt. All the decentualized networks are great for popular content but nothing even comes close to bt for rarer content.

Is this true, that you can't download more than one file at a time? Forget where I read this.

crap, I like the additions but still don't like the fact it ferries me away to a donation page everytime I click a link or hassles me now and again asking if I have donated then again pushing me off to the donation page.

I will stick with Bittornado for now

Now if you could only make it half that far with common decentcy to the ZP community then maybe you might have it made.

Yeh REAALLY! BT is one of the few P2P aps that makes it basically IMPOSSIBLE to leech..............I wonder how Mels could possibly miss this......

Unless sites put up a required ratio people just connect long enough to get a file and move on. It never gets shared anywhere else, a high % of the time. I did help out on a BT site for a bit and I saw it over and over. BT is a good way of getting a file fast and then cutting the connection to leech another one.

The fact is most BT users are leechers and not seeders

Yeh...I can see what you mean now. But I guess that BT is a MASS leaching session....but you are sharing the whole time you are downloading so you really can't call it leaching.....you are helping to spread the file first and then the person you give it to is then helping spread the file further.....so on and so on.

Are you kidding me? The longevity of files downloaded via BT is abysmal. eDonkey wins this race, hands down. Nothing even comes close.

Yes, but people have fatter pipes coming in than going out. That means that even though you are sharing while you are downloading, you are sharing much less. It is not uncommon for me to complete a DL and have only a 0.1 ratio or less.

i hate error tracker but i'm still using it. eDonkey files mostly stay there than BT.

Same here, it happens more times then not.

It has always been that files are shared by the minority. It is a system that has proven itself.

At least with BT leechers share something before running off, rather than simply switching off sharing like they do with other programs.
