Which method of installation is better?

I found that install by win32 installer(.exe) will locate the program at standard path(C:/program files/antsp2p/), while using the web start installer the location will be C:/document and setting /...../antsp2p. For windows xp, is the win32 installer more preferable?

I can't answer the question specifically...but if both installers install the same files, their locations probably won't make any difference.

java webstart worked for me the other way just didnt cut the mustard for some reason...

i like JWS beter because it is more frequently updated and is the latest bata. But i keep a latest installer version too. Installer is good if you hare having a problem with JWS. It is also good because if you change the default port number you can run two ants on your desktop. This is good if you want to test do some tests. This is a particularly good way to test a webpage you set up in the http tunnel. If you install two ants on your esttop and tranfer a file form one node to the other, you will see some wild transfer speeds up to 500 kb/s. Ants thinks it is on a LAN

For just installing once the installer worked better for me. But for updating regularly the web installer is a lot nicer.

When Gwren stops development for his break in Ireland using JWS will not give any benefit, in fact it will probably be quicker to use a local version.
No-one so far has picked up the code as far as I know so far (I'd be happy to find out that I'm wrong), it is difficult to keep up with the prolific Gwren, and the code download does not keep up with the compiled versions (I'm not sure but I think in the open source it should). Finding a java coder would be easier (G is correct in that Jave can be relatively easily read) than finding someone who can solve problems - and we still have some core problems to solve.

i install in a special folder, so the windows exe isntaller is neede, jave versio does not allow to choose install path, and the idiom says: what you have black on white, you can carry to home, so an offline installer is needed.


If you can isolate the jar file that jws installs, you should be able to copy it over to your installer version. So you be running jws to get the update, then close it and copy jar file over to installer directory. I have not done this, but i think it makes sense.
