Damn fine news:
From Yahoo 08/02/05
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Quentin Tarantino is considering writing and directing a new installment in the long-running "Friday the 13th" horror film series.
Tarantino is in early talks with New Line Cinema, where he is scheduled to meet with executives this week.
The original "Friday," released in 1980 and featuring the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees, spawned a series of sequels, including the 2003 hit "Freddy vs. Jason," in which Jason squared off against Freddy Krueger from the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series.
New Line tried to make a sequel to "Freddy vs. Jason" involving the "Evil Dead" character Ash, but it couldn't reach a deal with "Dead" rights holder Sam Raimi.
According to those familiar with the discussions, Tarantino is intrigued with the idea of playing with one of the movie's classic horror villains. If the project does develop, it could be the first film Tarantino directs outside Miramax Films.
The filmmaker, whose credits include "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction," recently signed on to direct the season finale of CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Jason and the mask debut in part 2?

He is actually doing another kung fu action flick. The first two were awesome.
Most people who like Jamie Kennedy movies won't like QT's films.

C'mon - you'd have to give it a chance... Although I'm much more interested/disapointed that the Freddy vs Ash movie never made it out. That's would've rocked!
I'm more pist about Tarantino trying to take credit for Hero when he didn't do jack shit for that movie.

I thought the last couple Nighmare on Elm Street's were bad and last 3 or 4 Friday the 13th's before Freddy vs. Jason were horrible, then Freddy vs. Jason somewhat saved both series by being a decent movie. Monica Kenna helped alot. She's pretty hot and the fighting was decent. They should let both series end and go out on somewhat of a high note. Any more and they're likely to bomb.

The Ring was okay to watch once but I didn't think it was good enough for a sequel to be made.
I liked Saw but I don't think I would call it a horror film in the traditional sense of the word. What the movie industry calls horror films today just isn't the same as even when I was young(I'm 27 now). The buzz word for the tagline's now seems to be "chiller" or "thriller". It's more about surprising people than scaring people now. I think there's a difference. They're just not the same.

It's been awhile, but I think Jason's hockey mask made its debut in part 3. In part 2 he wore a potato sack with one eye hole.
Though I thought Kill Bill 1 & 2 were both abortions of cinema, old kung fu is my favorite genre, and I hope he makes his next movie much less of a stroke fest.

Come on kleenr, what the hell are you talking about?
Kill Bill Vol. 2 was the best movie of '04 if you ask me. And Vol. 1 was pretty good too.
Tarantino is classic, and he's a crazy genius. If you don't like his shit, well then, tell me some good movies cuz you must be watching shit that's better than The Godfather and Scarface put together or some shit!!

What a waste of good talent
Oh dear, oh dear do I smell an elitist idiot on the boards, unlike most movies, the Jason movies do not pretend to be anything other than what they are, ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!!!!!!!, here's a revalationary piece of info for you; get ready....... 'people go the the movies to be entertained', yep entertainment, straight up value thats worth more to the patron than
the money they paid.
The Jason movies are purest definition of entertainment that there is; escaping from the hum drum of daily life of bills, work, relationships and just 90 minutes of fun, maybe you should stay away from all movies of you havn't quote grasped that concept yet.

People who rip on Quentin Tarantino need to just shut up and go back to watching the flicks they love like White Chicks, and Alone in the Dark. I mean come on...with films like Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs he changed the face of film making forever.

I thought the Kill Bill's were great.
His other movies are all mostly good too - he just put his name a little too big on Hero imo...

I'm not an elitist film guy, but I can be particular. I don't look down on anyone for enjoying films that I do not.
I think Tarantino is probably the #1 film buff movie guy in the world. He's the A-#-1 movie fan. He loves what he does and you can tell by watching his work... but I think his true potential will be realized when he stops regurgitating pop culture without digesting it; when he concentrates less on style and more on story and character development. I came away from Kill Bill 1 & 2 thinking they were masturbatory and shallow. It was QT saying, "Hey! Look at me! I love old martial arts movies! Look at me!"
Now his next project is going to be a send up of the classic Shaw Brothers kung fu movies, followed possibly by a remake of the WWII classic, The Inglorious Bastards.
I might enjoy these next ones; who knows. If he can recreate the classic kung fu movie (hopefully without any hollywood stars), I will be impressed, but I don't think I want to have fun watching a slick, stylish representation of WWII.
Don't put to much stock in what I say, though... because I love Pootie Tang.
Sadatay.

I agree cause I to didn't care too much for the kill bill series. But come on you can't rag on QT for that I mean have you seen Resevoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction? IMO two of the greatest movies ever made

I to am not ragging on the man. I also like Kill Bill part 1, but was a little less then satisfied with Kill Bill 2.
The old 70's Kung Fu movies did not have a large amount of blood in them. Tarantino added his own touch to the amount of blood that flowed in the Bill movies, which in my view was a rivers worth.
Now think about this!
The whole movie series Friday The 13th was ment to be a blood fest, and it was.
Just think about the volumes of the red sticky stuff that will flow if Tarantino does the remake.
For the sake of the movie set crew I hope they have a flood evacuation route planned.

I would pay to see it, since it be the first thing in two years that I have seen on the tv that resembled part of a hockey team. I hate that all the hockey players went on strike. I like quentin, he made pulp fiction, resvoir dogs, true romance, kill bill 1, 2, dusk to dawn, http://imdb.com/name/nm0000233/#writer

Being a fan of horror, and a fan of Quentin Tarantino, I'm intrigued and horrified at the same time. I just do the math from Alien vs Predator. Two R rated franchises, 1 PG-13 movie... gah. Though, the sleeping bag kill on Jason X was the funniest thing I have ever seen.

It's a rule that only virgins win. And people getting it on have to die.
