Well, you have a couple of options.
The first is that usually, rar files are usually just passworded with the web site it's from. Check to see if it's in the name of the file, or if you can look at the files inside the RAR, see if there's a link to a web site.
If that's not it, you can always get a RAR password cracker (do a google for it). A brute force hack will work, but it'll take days to crack. If it looks like a brute force crack is the only way, you might just want to consider downloading a different copy.
And a side note, why do release groups do that? Seems pretty pointless to me...

Release groups don't do that. Someone after them did it.

Them password crackers are good... but for small passwords preferable, around 3-5 characters.
If its a website which it usually is (I use rar's all the time) take ducttapes tips and route around the
rar file for any further information. Or try search shareaza again with the rar files exact name. A
different file may show up with the same name, such as a .txt or .nfo file. Happy searching!

Try googling the filename with the word password (thefilename.rar password) and see if that helps. It works for me.

Release groups don't do that. Someone after them did it.I hate that crap, but have since avoided it.
But here's a simple formula that usually works. Let's the say filename is:
New.Groups.Fifth.Album.www.torrentsite.com.rar (http://www.torrentsite.com.rar)
The password almost always is: New, Groups, Fifth, Album, or www.torrentsite.com (http://www.torrentsite.com)

Usually the website from which it was hosted but there is a slim chance that what you uncovered was from a small group within the network sharing password protected files to make the transfers more secure
