Problems installing program

I use the internet mostly at my University where there is a very high connection speed and I am having problems installing the file sharing programmes into my home file (storage space alloted to me by the University). When I try to install it it says that I do not have the adminstrative permission to do so. Is there any way of getting around this - a site that does not require the installation of a programme, or am I doomed to downloading mp3s at redicusly slow speeds on a modem?

direct connect used to have a version that would install directly onto a zip disk called "active share" or something like that, but that only works if their computers have zip drives

Krell is right, install your software on your own computer, less problems and only YOU can access it.
