Private P2P Network

I've been in the file sharing community for a number of years and I wanted to try to start my own network with a group of close friends. Most of my friends have no clue how to use IRC or Bittorrent. Their file sharing experience is limited to bearshare,kazaa, etc. I would like to create a network that is invite only and I would have control over. Can you guys recommend software to do this. Remember that my friends are not experienced warez downloaders and they need a simple interface with a search. I would do all the setup so I dont care if its difficult to setup. I just need something very easy to use. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The easiest thing to do is to setup a private DC Hub. Ptokax (http://dcinfo.insecure.lv/) is a good hub software for Windows. Yoshi's hub is pretty cool too.

Are their any guides to how to use this? Im sure i could figure it out on my own, but im lazy and i like to research a product before i use it. Im interested in a network, inwhich i could share all of my files with trusted friends. As long as it was safe by encryption, and i knew that no one could hack into our network. Is that even possible? I know that similar activities can occur over IRC!!! I just want to know all the facts first!!!

There is no encryption in DC...if you really think that's an issue (I don't), then you might try WASTE.

Setting up a hub will require the one computer with the hub software to be on all the time for the network to work right? I was hoping to avoid having a computer on all the time running software for the network to work but that might be impossible. I'm fairly new to this so I apologize if my questions are noobish.

Very easy to setup and use, works quite well, just my opinion though, should be easy for people who have used kazaa and the like, has search and chat capabilities and you can even log your chats to file, cewl, ooooooohhhhhhhh

do what eveyone else does...run the hub off of any old piece of crap computer that you stash in your basement

it doesn't need to be fast at all--it can be a win 95 166 or any old piece of crap, as long as it has a network card
