Hello All,
I want to give you a sneak preview of Qnext Version 2.
QN2 is a full IM tool that has user centric p2p services. Services like…. Secure file sharing, fast music streaming, go, chess, and a wicked photo streaming service.
Check it out, and let other users of the forum know what you think!
http://www.qnext.com/download.html - Windows AND Linux
The best part is the SDK is in prerelease and it paves the way for third party developers (read: p2p community) to create new and innovative apps. P2P gambling? Access to all p2p services through a webpage?
Check it out, and let me know what you think. Cheers!

26 megs to download it depends on a centralized server though.
i heard about this yesterday on p2pconsoritum and downloaded it, it seems nice but i dont like the idea that they are going to make a paid version of this too.
i would try it and i am going to, but right now, i been doing other stuff.
seems promising though.
cheers

I closed the other two threads, and just left this one. Any more spamming, and you will be banned.

What a typical model of SPAM!! Not open-sourced, old approach(just another ICQ, MSN)...

K,
First - The basic Qnext CLIENT that runs the plugins, and all current free plugins will ALWAYS BE FREE.
It will also always be 100% secure traffic ONLY between peers. Don't you hate that your MSN or AOL traffic goes back to big corp america?
It's NOT just another IM client. It is so much more. The IM is just to facilitate user centric p2p services. AND ANYONE can create new services that can be run on other users systems.
I was at a party last night, at a friends house. I played all of my music from home. Streamed, with no latency.
Try it out, make sure you actually share some stuff. It really is a kick ass program.

give us some stats............like how many people are on the network? does it download files from multiple sources? what kind of average speed can you get(depending on how your connected)? etc.etc. give us more than bullshit hype on how great it is, i need better proof before i install a big file like that just so IM people.

Wow, its 100% secure. How many times have we heard that one? Nothing is 100% secure. The only two things guaranteed in life is death and taxes.

give us some stats............like how many people are on the network? does it download files from multiple sources? what kind of average speed can you get(depending on how your connected)?I remember last issue of PC Magazine mention this software. From my understanding, it is a one to one file transfer only, no infomation on whether it can be multiple source. Speed? encrypted communication you bet ok?

I have been using this app for a little while. I would not call it spam. It's a good filesharing tool and more. I have many friends that I share zones with and absolutely love how this program works. It has excellent speeds too, I might add. I also like how this works for a home net too. However, 100% secure...I doubt it, but good, overall, I would say YES!

100% Secure ? Has the program been security audited by an indepandant party .It is proprietary closed source software so probably not .Also theres no Threat Model on the website or any indication how Qnext may counteract any such threats .The best protection software can give you is the concept of Plausible Deniablity even the developers of Freenet say this.I know SUN where promoting this software on thier website so it seems to be pretty legit but provide some more info and maybe open up some more source code if you are one of the developers .

i not saying this app is a pile of shit, i'm just saying i hate when people post about this great app but they really don't provide any info on how it works for them and why they personally like it. 90 percent of the time they just copy and paste some stuff from the website which provides no help. i will wait until one of the zeropaid regulars try it out and post thier opinion before i decide to try it.

Ok ok! Lol,
nothing is 100% secure. Very very true. Sorry for the marketing schpeel. Qnext 'was designed from the start with security in mind' all communications are encrypted.
Qnext does NOT provide multi source downloads. Its purpose is to facilitate communication among groups. It's like grouper, but it doesnt suck. It also lets users devolop their own p2p services (book library, games).
It's not designed to replace your sharezaa or bittorrent. Qnext is, in my humble opinion, the next evolution of P2P, with a focus on content OTHER than stolen movies and music.
I am already working on creating my own P2P services with qnext, and loving the ability to share my entire file server with my account from work.
This is SUPPOSED TO BE a forum for the latest and greatest, and embracing innovation and advancement. Why are you guys so bitter and unwilling to expand?

It seem to rely on central server as ICQ, correct me if wrong..
Also, one to one transfer is already implemented by other IM programs, what is new actually?

Just read this from the qnext site:
"We are currently offering all Qnext services free of charge. However, we are planning to offer specific Premium Services on a fee-basis. The final offering and timed release of paid Premium Services vs. Free Services is not yet determined."

Well, I've been using it for a while and think that its a good alternative to Trillian. The reason why its 22 MBs is because they include a copy of the Java RTE with Qnext.
xrobot: They have to make a profit somehow you know? That is how they'll make a profit.

I've used it for a few months now...when I reformatted I tried it out instead of SoulSeek..since I only used SS for Buddy's that couldn't connect any other way.
It's not bad, my only real complaint is you can't adjust Bandwidth..it Full Out...
Other than that, I would like to see an Option to Skip an Update..if you don't want the Update.
I only use this for File transfers, I have not used it to IM except for Qnext built in IM...the last Update added IRC...dunno how well they work though.

Plashkes: Maybe the reason people are calling it spam and being so bitter is because you made all kinds of threads about this. That's considered spam.
But anyways, the programs ok, But I can't see anyone online..

Right, we are a little more lax with terminology than some legalistic loophole-type trolls might like. So you will often hear flooding, flaming, baiting and other forms of blatant trolling referred to generically as "spamming". In this case your cross-posting constituted flooding, you might not be aware of the effect it has because you didnt bother to read around a bit before posting. But on the chance that you do know what you are doing and arent actually forum-illiterate, the simple "spamming" warning makes it easier to just douche you completely if you try some other tactic besides flooding.
Also, your product seems to suck so far, it locks up with my firewall on and theres no population when I work around that. I'm analyzing the ports, if I can get it to work better maybe I will post more.

Qnext, and all services it CURRENTLY INCLUDES, except remote pc access, will ALWAYS be free.
It CAN use irc, but Qnext has its own network.
And... this isn't just a trillian replacement, it LOOKS like an IM program but its a lot more than IM.
It’s more than just IM!
Music streaming: instant access to the entire music collection of your friends and network. You can also access your own music from work or school without downloading.
Secure File sharing: Share 10 files, or your entire network. User configurable security lets you set upload and download permissions.
Application sharing: Let friends and associates share any program on your computer, using nothing more than a web browser.
IRC: now you can add IRC to any Qnext zone. Share your pictures with friends, and let them chat on IRC through your computer.
I love this product! :)
will you just try it? make sure you actually try a service rather than just loading it and whining.
cheers!
s
Photo Streaming: Browse friends photos like they were on your computer! It has no delay and includes a slideshow.

i heard about this product downloaded it 2 days ago, and came to the conclusion that its nice, but not what its worth, being that it depends on a centralized network.
i would use it, if i knew some other would use it, but i do know a few that use it on another site, but really overall i dont see that many people would use this, and i feel sorry for people on dial up havin to download 22 mbs.
like i said its nice, not buggie, but time will see.
on side note stop spammin this so much, if the product is good, it will work.
people will use it man.
cheers

Hay infringer.
In China, is it called Spog™ ???
In other news, the us counterintelligence community released a lot of unconnected big words today, then apparently changed their mind and capped the reporter writing the story in mid-sentence
