I've read up quite a bit on ANts and I'm very excited to try it. I configured my IP Router & Firewall correctly according to the following links...

Ants says my firewall is configured correctly and is in blue however the highest amount of Peers I've got was 6 with an average of 2-3 Peers regularly. I'm using JRE 1.5 & accessing ANts via the .jnlp file. The highest speed I've seen for a download is 16.0KiB/s and I average 0.0 KiB/s 80% of the time. The only thing I adjusted in "Settings" was the IP address as instructed and I changed "Max Concurrent Downloads" to 2. Also I find very little content utilizing the query reference instructions from...

Is there a way to control Upload & Download Bandwith to optimize speed and connection (Like Azureus requires) or is something else wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :sw

Hi RandyBee - welcome to the Beta testers paradise. Your experience is not unusualy, there are not a huge number of users active so far, and new releases come out all the time. If you have peers connected and getting data moving a bit all is well. The search results are under discussion in this forum, and it is my opinion that the search is not working well. The number of peers comes and goes - 2-6 is about what I see, I think max concurrent downloads should be higher in your case, and you need to check the upload speed, because data is proxied through the system, the upload speed is the critical one, and on the settings panel there is a slider. Try a number of different settings - it seems more of an art than a science now - but things are getting better all the time.
Stay with it.
Best regards
Chris

I appreciate the feedback being new at something like this can be frustrating. I can deal with the lack of content and hopefully I'll figure out how to search or it will improve. I feel safer about sharing in this type of P2P so I guess I'll have to get together some stuff to contribute to the collection and see how it goes. I put the max concurrent downloads so low just as an experiment. Any suggestions on where to set it, or do you remember what the default value is/was (I should have written it down)? As for the upload you mentioned are you referring to the "Bandwidth UP/Down" (Mine is set to 596)? Just curious I didn't want to change any more defaults settings in vain :green4
Thanks again.

596 os ok for now (seeing as you did not tell us your connection speed up and down).
As downloads are sporadic set concurrent to 5 - 10. However - change in vain - testing is what we do and no change means no test.....
IRC can also help - ask there (there is not always people available) - remember on IRC your IP can be seen (but not yuor vIP or what files are related to you).
Best regards

indeed, think of each new bata as an experiment with bugsto work out. The last patched version of 9.5 was giving me the best results but Gwren found a critical error in that. I have been having a hard time with 9.6 it is rehashing my files for the 2 nd time. I have a lot of files so i was hashing for 11 hours. then when i restarted i had to ahsh again. I already tod gwren about my problem.

Cactus Chris:
My Download speed is 5Mbps Down (5120kbps?) and 768kbps Up. But I'm not sure how this relates to KiB/s I'll have to google it later when I have more time. I'll set concurrent DLs to 5-10 and see what happens. I let Ants run for about 7 hours and had a 4% DL & 3% UP compressed ratio.
Chris & tsafa 1: Thanks for the info & encouragement I'll keep working on it and see how it turns out. I've gotta run for now I'll work on this more later
