Hey guys,
I don't suppose there is anyone who can explain (simply) how to sort out my ripped DVDs?
I've downloaded DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, IfoEdit, VobEdit, Vobrator and DVD2AVI and I've used DVD Decrypter to rip a movie but that's as far as I've got. The guides just make no sense to me!! The problem is I want to burn the movie to a DVD but I don't want all the extras and I want to keep the menus. The 'excellent guide by Doom9' about using IfoEdit just makes no sense to me at all. Surely someone here can explain what to do so everyone can understand!!
Please people, I'm on my knees!!!!

Video guides can be daunting, for sure, but they're usually distilled down for beginners as is.
If you can stand losing the menus your life will be much easier.

DVD Srhink is all u need. Maintains the menus. Select the disc and then use backup to save to your hard drvie and then burn.
Check out Afterdawn.com if need any help.

DVD Shrink doesn't maintain the menus if you remove some of the DVD content such as backstage stuff.

Dvd menu is only good if you want the extras.. You dont need dvd menu if you dropped all the extras.. DVD menu is for extras.. IF you drop it, all you need to do is drop the menu entirely so the dvd starts up to the first chapter of disk. I usually try to keep it all unless i have to compress the video or something. I drop all subtitles and crap which doesnt take up too much space but could add up.

I know I always bring this up when a DVD thread comes around, but...
You could check out Doom9 or Afterdawn's DVD Rebilder+CCE guides. A quick perusal of their guides sections will lead you to them.
The backup quality is so good you don't have to worry about removing exras and what not.

DVD Rebuilder + CCE is what I use too but he said he was having a problem understanding guides so I figured he wouldn't understand those either. If I want to edit menus, hide or delete buttons on menus, or edit out stuff I use DVDremake Pro. There's a guide for it around too and like every other good tool you have to *cough* buy it.

CloneDVD2 & AnyDVD are all you really need....
With CloneDVD2, you have your choice of Full DVD or just Movie...easy as 3 clicks.
You can also rip as VOB, ISO & UDF if you want to save it to your HD..or you can just copy & burn to a DVD...without having to save it.

DVD Remake Pro, huh... I have that in my vast gaping hole of applications... I should check it out.You can do all kinds of stuff with it from removing FBI warnings to trailers to any extras you want removed and then hide the buttons in the menus to the stuff you removed. You can also split a DVD9 in two and keep the original working menu for both discs. If you can work PgcEdit (which I think is a pain in the ass) then you will find this a breeze.

Thanx for the tips guys, I've got CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD and I've made a working copy with the certain extras I didn't want cut out and the ones I wanted left in there but I'm still working on the menu thing. There would be no problem if all the stuff fit on the disk but as we all know the quality suffers and I'd rather have good quality things I want than extras I'm never gonna watch. Anyhoo, I'm sure I'll get there in the end. Maybe I'll give that DVD Remake Pro a go...sounds pretty good.

Honestly the way to get these tools to work for you is to make sure you have a back up of your original file, then just keep messing around with the programs and walk yourself through some guides and it will all begin to make sense. If you want high quality copies of dvd9 rips, remove what you don't want or need and then learn and use DVDRebuilder +CCE. I use 6 pass encoding myself and get EXCELLENT results.

How much are you paying for DL discs? The cheapest I've seen them is $30 a 5 pack.

You could watch the extras to see if your really gonna miss it. Still shots, scenes that wasnt added, documentry could stand to go. The scenese arent released in the final format on many occassions and lack the color and depth. Buy a pack of dvd9 and IF it comes down to wanting the entire thing, fire one up. But most dvd's are around 6gigs, and hate to use something expensive when you could of bought the dvd for 14 dollars on ebay rather then 10 dollars for a disk, and it not being original.

I know I rarely if ever watch any of the extra crap on a DVD anyway. Hollywood only puts it on there so they can somehow justify their jacking of the price, which IMHO ain't worth it.
